We’re diving headfirst into tag team wrestling this week, and who better to lead the charge than D-Von Dudley himself? The multi-time tag champ shows up at the top of the show to drop some knowledge on the Future Greats—and instantly, the sparks fly between him, Bubba Ray, and Booker T. Bubba proudly reminds us that he and D-Von are 24-time Tag Team Champions, but Booker brushes it off, calling the ECW titles “regional” and pointing to his 10 legit World Championships instead. The tension’s real. D-Von lays down the law: it’s all about chemistry. Tag team wrestling is about synergy, trust, and knowing your partner inside and out. Tonight, we’ll see who’s got that connection and who’s just winging it.
Here’s the lineup: Penina “P-Nasty” Tuilaepa & Leigh Laurel vs. Sirena Linton & Dani Sekelsky. Zena Sterling & Tatyanna Dumas vs. Tyra Mae Steele & Bayley Humphrey. Drake Morreaux & Cutler James vs. Troy Yearwood & Chris Island. Shiloh Hill & Elijah Holyfield vs. Jasper Troy & Anthony Luke
Before we get to the action, Brayden “BJ” Ray strolls in just as Cutler and Drake are brainstorming a tag finisher. Bubba interrupts, saying sometimes you’ve got to team with people you don’t vibe with—and in that spirit, he pulls Drake from the match and pairs Cutler with BJ for the night. Let’s see how that plays out.
Match 1: Brayden “BJ” Ray & Cutler James vs. Chris Island & Troy Yearwood
We kick things off with BJ and Cutler taking on Island and Yearwood—but it’s clear right from the bell that this tag team is anything but united. BJ tags in Cutler almost immediately, and you can already tell there’s no real teamwork happening on Team Bubba’s side. Bubba looks on, visibly stressed… or at least trying to look it. (Sorry Bubba, not your best acting moment.) Despite the disconnect, there’s a solid story being told here—and credit to WWE for continuing to make Legends & Future Greats feel like a full-circle wrestling experience. BJ starts to get some control, but then Cutler jumps in unprompted, shoves BJ to the mat, and storms off to the back, leaving his partner hanging. BJ manages a sneaky roll up Yearwood for a surprise win. After the match, Bubba heads backstage to confront BJ and tells him to take the back exit—definitely not a proud moment for the team. After the match, Bubba doesn’t let things slide. He calls out Mickie James and D-Von to have a word with BJ about going into business for himself. And honestly? He’s got a point. Outside of one slick double suplex from Troy and Chris, we didn’t get to see much actual tag team wrestling from either side in this match. The confrontation feels intense, but let’s be real—there’s no way this is legit. If this were real heat, BJ would’ve been sent packing. Still, as a story, it works. BJ’s character is gaining momentum, and it adds another layer to this week's tag team theme, as teams not getting laong is an age old wrestling trope.
Match 2: Penina "P-Nasty" Tuilaepa & Leigh Laurel vs. Sirena Linton & Dani Sekelsky
It’s time—Dani Sekelsky is finally back in the ring (yay!), teaming with Sirena against Leigh and Penina. Dani and Leigh kick things off with some solid grappling before Sirena tags in and brings the heat with some clean technical work and a classic bronco buster. The crowd’s into it, and the momentum keeps building. Dani’s back in and shows off her quirky offense with some fun and creative moves—but Leigh smartly targets the weak spot, landing backbreakers that remind us of Dani’s previous hip and back issues. Penina tags in and things get a little chaotic. Sirena tries to make the save but takes an awkward splash from P-Nasty that might’ve done more harm than good. Team Booker really steps it up with quick tags and solid teamwork, continuing the assault on Dani’s back. Eventually, Dani manages to turn the tide and gets the hot tag to Sirena, who goes wild on Leigh with a burst of offense. But it’s not quite enough—Leigh catches Sirena with a big slam and secures the pinfall victory. Booker was clearly frustrated with his team’s lack of intensity, criticizing them for not laying in their shots. Mickie, meanwhile, gave her squad props—but she didn't mention how Sirena didn’t seem fully comfortable out there. Still, a decent match with some solid story progression.
Before the next match kicks off, we get a cool behind-the-scenes moment with The Undertaker walking both teams through the upcoming bout. D-Von Dudley steps in as well to drill one of the most crucial components in tag-team wrestling—the hot tag. It's one of the toughest things to execute cleanly in the ring, and tonight we’ll see how the Future Greats handle one of the most iconic moments in tag-team storytelling.
Match 3: Shiloh Hill & Elijah Holyfield vs. Jasper Troy & Anthony Luke
Jasper Troy and Elijah Holyfield start things off in classic big-man/little-man fashion, with Elijah throwing in some slick punches to get the crowd going. Jasper tags in Anthony Luke, and Elijah brings in Shiloh Hill. From there, the pace picks up with some solid tandem offense from Team Undertaker. Team Booker fires back with quick tags and seamless teamwork, giving us a match that moves fast but never feels rushed. The roles are clear—babyfaces vs. heels—and the crowd’s invested the whole way through. This one stole the show. We get a textbook hot tag, and just as Elijah is pinning Luke, Jasper accidentally splashes his own partner. Shiloh and Elijah capitalize, running a beautiful double clothesline that sends Jasper over the top rope. Elijah finishes things off with a huge splash and scores the three-count. After the bell, both Booker and The Undertaker are all smiles and handshakes—this was a statement win and a tag-team performance that lived up to the lesson. LFG indeed.
Match 4: Zena Sterling & Tatyanna Dumas vs. Tyra Mae Steele & Bayley Humphrey
Tyra and Tatyanna start things off, which honestly feels like a moment that could’ve used a bit more buildup—but let’s see how it plays out. Tatyanna grabs the early momentum and quickly tags in Zena. We get a fun and clever moment after a near fall where Zena bends down to tie her shoe, only to trip Tyra right after and make a sneaky tag back to Tatyanna. Tyra flips the script with some slick mat-based wrestling and shows off her technical skill. Zena later stomps on the steel steps—a rare and unique touch that even gets Bubba hyped at ringside. Bayley tags in and brings that signature power and intensity we’ve come to expect. She goes to work on Tatyanna in the corner, softening her up before tagging Tyra back in. Tyra keeps up the pressure, dominating until she misses a big elbow drop. That gives Tatyanna just enough time to crawl to her corner and tag Zena back in. Zena lands her finisher on Bayley, but it feels slightly mistimed, she gets a two-count before Bayley breaks up the pin. Bayley tags back in, hits a devastating finisher, and picks up the pinfall victory. Post-match, Tatyanna starts running her mouth again, throwing shade at Tyra. Thankfully, Tyra gets a moment to fire back in a short backstage promo—setting up what’s bound to be a fiery rematch or deeper feud down the road.
It’s closing time, and now it’s time to see who earns the points tonight. D-Von gives Team Bubba the nod, awarding the point to Zena Sterling and Tatyanna Dumas for their performance. Team Undertaker picks up the second point of the night thanks to the impressive win by Shiloh Hill and Elijah Holyfield. Next week, things are getting wild with mixed tag action—and the theme? “Sh*t Happens!” You won’t want to miss it. —LFG
