WWE RAW RESULTS: August 5, 2024
- Ludwig Kaiser introduced Gunther as the new World Heavyweight Champion. Gunther said to watch and see what he is going to do as champion. He said that nothing can catch him off guard. Randy Orton came out and said that he was the only reason Gunther is champion today. Orton pointed out that Gunther never truly pinned him at King of the Ring. Orton called the potential match a modern day "Flair vs Steamboat". Gunther accepted the challenge for Bash at Berlin.
- Sheamus defeated Ludwig Kaiser by pinfall.
- A old Bray Wyatt vignette played from 10 years ago in Baltimore.
- Damian Priest called out Finn Balor for interfering in his SummerSlam match. Balor appeared on the tron with his new group including JD McDonagh, Carlito, Liv Morgan, and Dominik Mysterio.
- CM Punk said that he wants Drew McIntyre again but Seth Rollins interrupted. The two almost scrapped before McIntyre came on the mic. While Punk chased McIntyre, Bronson Reed attacked Rollins from behind. He would hit six Tsunami's on Rollins, leaving him coughing up blood.
- New Day defeated Authors of Pain by pinfall.
- A-Town Down Under defeated Awesome Truth by pinfall.
- Damian Priest defeated JD McDonagh by DQ.
- Wyatt Sicks defeated Chad Gable and Creed Brothers by pinfall.
AUTHOR'S REVIEW / HOT TAKES / THOUGHTS:
- I am excited for a Randy-Gunther feud and I think it's a great pre-cursor to Orton facing Cody. I don't believe Gunther would lose in Berlin, but I personally would enjoy another Orton title win. Cole mentioned that if Orton won he would be a 15-time World Champion, bringing him closer to tying Cena and Flair with 16 each. Cena vs Orton for 17 at Mania???
- The New Judgement Day is interesting but I think Finn needs to be solo again. Maybe Dom takes over to go to the main event level?
- Drew v Punk v Rollins was always the goal. The SummerSlam match was weird without Rollins actually wrestling. With Reed going nuts on Seth, maybe Seth's out for Bash with Punk beating Drew and Rollins returning for Bad Blood. Can they stretch this out to Bad Blood for a triple threat Hell in a Cell?
- The Creeds and Gable in matching singlets is amazing. Strap them to the moon. Need tag titles and a WHC run for Gable. Gunther at Mania?
- Lumis looks great.
