This segment will fill you in on the most important parts of the show worth checking out or keeping up to date with, in case you missed this episode of Impact Wrestling.
Without further ado, let's inspect the biggest takeaways of the week!
TNA IMPACT WRESTLING: MAY 4, 2024 RESULTS
#5 - Dynamite System
The team of Alisha Edwards and Masha Slamovich is an odd one, even if it is logical. Wanting to bring gold back to her group, Alisha needs a partner, and Masha wants revenge on Spitfire, but Killer Kelly is out of the picture. Ahead of them challenging for the titles, Alisha would face one half of the champs, Dani Luna, in singles action this week.
The match went as one would expect, Luna playing the power game, Alisha being crafty as ever. The end would come when, with the referee distracted, Masha snuck into the ring, levelling Luna with the Snow Plow. Alisha would roll back in and get the pin, winning some momentum for Under Siege.
#4 - Ehhhh
Cody Deaner as a white meat babyface is a gimmick that still feels unsteady, with the switch from deranged cult leader to man of the people seemingly coming in mere weeks. Deaner has certainly put his all behind it, and it has, thankfully, made his matches more enjoyable to watch. Facing off against Hammerstone in a No DQ match this week, Deaner put in a great shift.
This match didn’t reinvent the wheel, nor was the winner ever in question. Hammerstone needed to look strong after losing to Josh Alexander,, and ahead of facing Jake Something. Dominating vast parts of the match against the resilient Deaner, Hammer would win with the Torture Rack. After the Sin City Street Fight ended, Hammer wouldn’t let go until Something came out to the ring, ending in a pull-apart brawl.
#3 - The Ayyy in ABC
The Ace and Bey Connection both put on great performances in singles action tonight, one in a non title match, and one fighting for a title opportunity. The former came in the show opener of Chris Bey Vs Mustafa Ali, which saw the two men get put on a high flying, fast paced clinic, one which Ali would win through nefarious means, and the latter came in Trey Miguel and Ace Austin putting on a banger for the right to face Ali for the title at Under Siege, after last week’s Ballot Box Battle drama.
Standard Rascalz/ABC fare, Ace would pick up the win with a nasty looking Fold.
#2 - Best Apology Concert Ever.
Just go watch the apology concert to First Class by Joe Hendry. Funny and entertaining, I think explaining comedy defeats the point. Congratulations to Mr Hendry for making it to the singles charts. We believe.
#1 - Pink Juggernaut
If you want to talk match of the year candidates for TNA, this week’s main event definitely has to be a contender. Knockouts Champion, Jordynne Grace, Vs the ace of TJPW, Miyu Yamashita, more than lived up to the hype.
A match not structured with the pretension of being some kind of epic, this was a rough, car crash of a sprint, both women hitting each other as hard as they could. Miyu busted out the big strikes, Jordynne moved as always with the force of a ton of bricks, and there were plenty of spots to keep everyone invested, like the double down from the backhand/kick, or the apron DVD by Miyu. As dominant as she looked throughout however, Miyu, like all the rest, fell victim to the Juggernaut Driver, giving Grace the win.
