WWE WrestleMania 2025 Spoilers |
-
Singles Match for the World Heavyweight Championship: Gunther (c) vs. Jey Uso
Royal Rumble winner Jey Uso made this choice on the February 10th episode of Raw, even though we all knew this was coming once he surprisingly won that title opportunity. I still don't think this is going to work out as well as WWE is planning, in the grand scheme of things, and their attempt to do a KofiMania type of thing is going to be less "Daniel Bryan huge moment OMG WrestleMania 30" and more like how Kingston's title reign fizzled out pretty quickly. Jey will win, and people will go nuts for the moment, and I and many others will be happy for him, but I don't know if there will be any sticking power to Uso once he's actually holding the title. I hope I'm wrong, of course.
PREDICTION: Jey Uso wins the title.
-
Singles Match for the WWE Women's Championship: Tiffany Stratton (c) vs. Charlotte Flair
I wonder how far back they had this plan and how annoyed they must be that they didn't work out the kinks ahead of time and realize there was no way Stratton was going to be the heel if Flair returned with the character she did. My guess is they want Flair to win the title since she's at 14 out of 16 title reigns, and she'll drop the belt within 3 months at most, and their thought process will be that Stratton will be better off for having had this match with Flair even despite losing.
PREDICTION: Charlotte Flair wins.
PREDICTED MATCHES (as of 2/25/2025)
- Cody Rhodes vs. John Cena will be the true main event as the headliner of Sunday night. I also think this will be a mistake, as fans will inevitably walk out disappointed and disliking those babyfaces instead of being happy with both of them. It'll hurt both of their years by losing some of the fan base, as no matter who wins, some people will be upset, but with The Rock's whole "sell your soul" thing, maybe they have an opportunity to have John Cena turn heel and end WrestleMania as the 17-time world champion and that can bypass the potential Cody issue.
- I also think it's a mistake to do CM Punk vs. Roman Reigns vs. Seth Rollins for multiple reasons. First, no title or any stakes are on the line, so it ultimately doesn't matter. Second, it screams of "we didn't have anything for all of these guys to do, so we just threw Roman in there because The Rock didn't want to do Mania this year". Third, it's not even going to include Drew McIntyre, who was a lynch pin in all of this. Fourth, this isn't going to main event, so that's another year where CM Punk doesn't accomplish that goal. Fifth, Reigns isn't going to lose, so that means either Punk or Rollins comes up short just to appease that situation, and I don't think it'll serve an ultimate purpose.
- I still feel like Rhea Ripley is going to face Bianca Belair, and WWE will have fully dropped the ball with their story being nonexistent, because they'll think "oh well, the match will be good" and we'll have 6 weeks of "I respect you, but I'm gonna beat you at Mania" on repeat. If it's not Belair, then I have even less faith they know what they're doing. I think WWE didn't do enough to set up anyone for Ripley, and they're basically going to have to take an L on this one and do something that isn't as bombastic of a WrestleMania match. To be honest, a lot of this year's WrestleMania feels like it's a series of backup plans and switch-ups, and not at all the lineup that anyone would have picked even in October.
- Liv Morgan and Raquel Rodriguez will defend the women's tag titles against teams like Nia Jax & Candice LeRae, Alexa Bliss and Nikki Cross (if they end up putting Bliss with The Wyatt Sicks), Damage CTRL, etc.
- I'm going to throw it out there that I now think Chelsea Green and Piper Niven will be chosen as the people responsible for taking out Jade Cargill, setting up Cargill against Green for the Women's United States Championship. Cargill wins that midcard title so they have time to continue working on her in-ring skills and eventually build her up to a more prominent spot next year for a world title, probably against either Charlotte Flair or Bianca Belair in 2026.
- If Lyra Valkyria defends the Women's Intercontinental Championship on this card—which, not everyone can get on the card, mind you—the biggest match possible is against Becky Lynch, but they haven't set that up at all yet. All they've done is build Ivy Nile and sidestep her, so that's not good enough to make it to the card. Alternatively, they can just throw a bunch of women into a Fatal 4-Way or something and say quantity over quality.
- That same thought process applies to the men's United States Championship. I highly doubt Shinsuke Nakamura is getting a singles match, for example. Toss around some names like Carmelo Hayes, LA Knight, maybe even Damian Priest, etc. That is, unless Nakamura drops it ahead of time.
- Bron Breakker does stand more of a chance of having a singles match against any number of guys like AJ Styles, Logan Paul, Finn Balor, Braun Strowman, etc. So far, it looks like they're teasing Breakker against Styles, which would be a fun match.
- Logan Paul either gets tossed into the Intercontinental/United States Championship scenes, as mentioned above, or he gets a singles match against AJ Styles, but after that Breakker tease, I guess Styles/Paul is less likely now. To be honest, I don't know what they'll do with Paul. He's had more interactions with CM Punk than anyone, strangely.
- Multi-teams for the tag titles. The Street Profits, MCMG, DIY, etc for SmackDown, War Raiders, New Day, Creed Bros, etc for Raw. I'm assuming Melo Don't Miz is being set up for part of that, too.
- I could see Jacob Fatu and Solo Sikoa having a match against each other, or for it to be Jacob Fatu and Tama Tonga against Solo Sikoa and Jimmy Uso. They should really consider making Fatu the babyface and Sikoa the heel.
- Damian Priest against Drew McIntyre? Uninspired, particularly if it just starts with Priest beating McIntyre in Elimination Chamber and that's the entire foundation of this.
- I guess instead of Kevin Owens against Randy Orton, it'll be Kevin Owens against Sami Zayn and The Viper is just sitting out Mania? That's a shame.
- Do we get Dominik Mysterio against Rey Mysterio in some fashion again? Hair and mustache versus mask? Something related to Penta in that mix, too? Is this going to be including Chad Gable and someone like Aleister Black or Andrade? Mysterio seems to keep clashing with Finn Balor, and Rey might be injured, and this stuff might include Bron Breakker, so I'm at a loss.
- I still hope we get the Andre the Giant Memorial Battle Royal in some fashion.
