Welcome to another edition of POINTS OF IMPACT—a breakdown of the top moments of this week's edition of TNA’s Impact Wrestling.
This segment will fill you in on the most important parts of the show worth checking out or keeping up to date with, in case you missed this episode of Impact Wrestling.
Without further ado, let's inspect the biggest takeaways of the week!
IMPACT WRESTLING: MARCH 7, 2023 RESULTS
#5 - On and On
Part of any PCO feud in TNA is as commentary pointed out this week, a seemingly never-ending brawl between him and his rival. Facing off against Alan Angels this week, after interrupting Angels’ Sound Check segment to fight the guest, Kon, PCO made short work of Angels, a chokeslam and a slightly over-shot PCOsault getting the job done.
After the bell, the feud would continue, Kon getting the upper hand at first, until a brief distraction from Angels, which earned him a neck snap, gave PCO a chance to recover, leading to duelling chairs, and ultimately, PCO standing tall.
#4 - Dirty Walking
Dirty Dango May hate pro wrestling, but he’s damn good at it when he tries. Like a sleazy Orange Cassidy, Dango gave it all he had in his big match against TNA’s Worldbeater, Josh Alexander. What was meant to be a warm-up for Alexander before his rematch against Hammerstone the day following at Sacrifice, Alexander had to work for his win here.
Targeting the Walking Weapon’s leg throughout, this was Dango’s most explosive, focused performance to date. There was, of course, interference from Dango’s camp of Alpha Bravo and Oleg Prudius, but this was kept to a minimum. Dango gave it his all, and while it wasn’t good enough, Alexander eventually winning via Ankle Lock, it sure was fun to watch.
#3 - Threat Levels Rising
It has been, on the whole, a bad few weeks to be a member of MK Ultra. Despite regaining the tag titles from Decay at No Surrender, they’ve struggled to maintain momentum. Killer Kelly lost to Jody Threat on Xplosion, and this week their other halves did battle, with Dani Luna facing Masha Slamovich.
Continuing the story of Luna and Threat quickly becoming wise to the tactics of MK Ultra, it felt like Masha fought most of this match on the back foot, the power of Luna overwhelming her. When Masha was in control, she was sneaky, cunning, precise, and with the help of Kelly, felt no less dangerous than usual, even if she didn’t have the advantage.
Unfortunately for the champs, and fortunately for the challengers, Luna would manage to hit the Luna Landing, pinning Masha, and putting them 2-0 up against the champs going into Sacrifice.
#2 - Time Splitting Up?
Tensions are high in the Time Machine camp. Consoling Kevin Knight backstage after he was attacked by Mustafa Ali and the Good Hands after a match (more on that later,) Alex Shelley would voice frustrations with his allies, Sabin for not being in his corner, KUSHIDA for throwing the towel in, costing Shelley the No Surrender rules match and subsequently, his shot at regaining the world title.
A few accidents and instances of miscommunication aside, Time Machine were as impressive as ever this week, having a tightly worked match against the Good Hands, who continue to be, well, Good Hands. Doing their job and doing it well, Skyler and Hotch were a great obstacle for Shelley and KUSHIDA to overcome, forcing them to work together. When the Time Splitters did, KUSHIDA got the win with the Hoverboard Lock.
#1 - In Ali I Trust
Mustafa Ali is damn good. His match against Sabin at No Surrender was proof he could do big matches like no one’s business, but he started this week’s episode of Impact proving he could make the smaller matches matter too. Kevin Knight has looked like a star before, but I’d say never in TNA has a match been tailored to showcase him so well.
Knight can jump, period. There’s a reason he’s called the Jet. Whether it be his No Look Crossbody, or his jumping Frankensteiner, he’s impressive, and he was able to showcase his abilities this week. The match was structured around him being the better athlete, the more explosive one, but for everyone impressive manoeuvre, Ali was there with a smart counter, recovering quickly.
Knight put on a good effort, but interference from the Good Hands, and the introduction of the X Division title belt, would allow Ali to land a cheap shot, and get the win. After the bell, Ali and would flip it and reverse it, adding injury to insult, targeting the arm of Knight with a 450 Splash.
