30-Man Royal Rumble Match (2025)

Confirmed participants (9) = CM Punk, Drew McIntyre, Jey Uso, John Cena, LA Knight, Rey Mysterio, Roman Reigns, Sami Zayn, Seth Rollins

I can see a few different scenarios happening here, but as always, it's a house of cards that all depends on big puzzle pieces fitting together. Someone like The Rock working WrestleMania or NOT working the show leads to massive changes in the lineup. Does he fight Cody Rhodes for the title at that event, beforehand, or not at all? Does The Rock fight Roman Reigns at WrestleMania? Is it for the title or not?

After the Netflix premiere of Raw, it certainly doesn't seem like The Rock is doing anything at all for WrestleMania. He killed both of his possible options with those promos about how much he loves Cody Rhodes and Roman Reigns.

I can't think of a way that CM Punk fights Roman Reigns in a main event match unless it's non-title and they just say the other 3 world title options (WHC and the two women's titles) don't mean as much. There's no feasible way I can think of for how the belt gets put on Punk or Reigns without it making Cody Rhodes or Gunther look like they definitively said "but you're not as important." That also means no Punk versus Seth Rollins match with the belt on the line, either.

I'm starting to think Seth Rollins could win the Royal Rumble, challenge Gunther, and possibly win the title and feud with Punk after WrestleMania, Punk and Reigns can fight in a non-title match, and I guess John Cena wins Elimination Chamber and goes on to challenge Cody Rhodes. None of those are the matches I would want, and I'll be disappointed if that's the direction they go when they had so many better choices (IMO) that could have worked if The Rock had just been okay with not having a title on the line. I'd have gone with Roman/Rock in a non-title match for the ula fala, Rhodes/Orton for the WWE Championship, Cena/Gunther for the WHC, Rollins/Punk in a grudge match, and at that point you're only leaving out a few people that are still out of the mix anyway like Owens, Logan Paul, Drew McIntyre, etc.

I don't buy into this idea of Gunther against Logan Paul at all. That baffles me why that's getting some traction. To be honest, I don't know who Paul can go up against that would make sense, as he's already had most of the big names checked off. Maybe he fights for the United States or Intercontinental Championship, especially if they were to have a multi-man ladder match to toss a bunch of people in there? Maybe he fights Pentagon, if they're interested in giving him a prominent spotlight? It'd be GREAT if we could get him against AJ Styles, but we don't even know if we're going to see The Phenomenal One wrestle ever again, let alone when, let alone here, let alone against Paul, so that's asking for a lot.

I've rambled long enough. The tl;dr of this is "I don't have a clue what they're doing, because none of the things they're potentially setting up make sense to me, or even if it does make sense, I'm not a big fan of it, so I'm worried this year's WrestleMania is going to be more of a lackluster one."

PREDICTION: Seth Rollins wins and John Cena wins the Elimination Chamber. If John Cena wins this, then I think he competes in just a random singles match at Elimination Chamber and the EC match is won by Rollins.

30-Woman Royal Rumble Match (2025)

Confirmed participants (7) = Bayley, Bianca Belair, Charlotte Flair, Liv Morgan, Naomi, Nia Jax, Raquel Rodriguez

Tiffany Stratton walks into WrestleMania champion, and the main person I can see fighting her is Charlotte Flair, who hasn't even returned yet.

Rhea Ripley walks into WrestleMania champion, and I don't think there's any interesting enough choice out there. WWE probably wants to do a rematch with Becky Lynch, but I hope that's not the case. Then again, really, who else is there? As far as mainstream appeal, you can't put someone like Iyo Sky in there and act like it's going to make anyone gush other than the hardcore nerds. This isn't a spot for someone to rise up the ranks and suddenly challenge out of nowhere, even though I'd be entirely on board with Jordynne Grace coming in and winning this.

People like Bianca Belair, Jade Cargill, etc are naturally going to be up for discussion, but nothing really screams out to me as though there's an obvious answer.

PREDICTION: Becky Lynch or Charlotte Flair wins the Royal Rumble?

Ladder Match for the WWE Championship: Cody Rhodes (c) vs. Kevin Owens

Man, they really stretched this feud out, didn't they? At least this is a ladder match, which will break up the monotony. I'm anticipating Randy Orton can either come out to help Cody retain, or Cody just wins outright and they move on. They obviously HAVE to move on from this, and it's not going to be with Owens winning the title. I'm assuming Orton is fighting Owens at WrestleMania, so whether there's an RKO in this match or not, that's the future of where Owens goes after this.

PREDICTION: Cody Rhodes retains the title.

2-Out-of-3 Falls Match for the WWE Tag Team Championship: #DIY (c) vs. Motor City Machine Guns

Hey, this is awesome. I love that they're going to spotlight the tag team division at the Royal Rumble, I love that it's going to be a hell of a match, I love that they're doing something fun with the gimmick instead of just another standard tag match, and I love that by doing this, they justify not having these four in the Royal Rumble match. None of them were going to win, and I don't want any of them to look weak as I'm a fan of all 4, so keeping them out of the Royal Rumble opens up more spots for others while not making them skip out on the card and looking less important.

As far as the match outcome, either team could win and I'd be down for it. It would make sense to keep it on #DIY to have a heel team in charge over there, but it'd also make sense to put it back on MCMG heading into WrestleMania. Awesome.

PREDICTION: Motor City Machine Guns win the titles back.
