WWE NXT Vengeance Day 2024 Results

Dusty Rhodes Tag Team Classic Finals: The Wolf Dogs (Baron Corbin and Bron Breakker) vs. Trick Melo Gang (Carmelo Hayes and Trick Williams)

RESULT: The Wolf Dogs won by pinfall (Breakker pinned Hayes)
THOUGHTS: This is the right outcome (unlike The Rock stealing the Roman Reigns match from Cody Rhodes #WeWantCody) to tell the right story here. Breakker pinning Hayes sets up the turn later that I'm assuming happens with Melo. Also, Wolf Dogs are great, and having them fight for the tag titles will be a great addition to that future card. This was a solid match, too.

No Disqualification Match: Dijak vs. Joe Gacy

RESULT: Dijak won by pinfall.
THOUGHTS: Fun enough, but it did leave more to the imagination from what it could have been. In a bubble, thumbs up. Compared to other DQ matches in the past, it's as forgettable as can possibly be. But this new gimmick for Gacy is definitely working better for me, I'll say that.

Six-Person Mixed Tag Team Match: The D'Angelo Family (Tony D'Angelo, Channing "Stacks" Lorenzo and Adriana Rizzo) vs. OTM (Bronco Nima, Lucien Price and Jaida Parker, with SCRYPTS)

RESULT: The D'Angelo Family won by pinfall.
THOUGHTS: Fine, but only if you look at it through the lens of being total filler. This was skippable even if it were on NXT, rather than a pay-per-view.

Singles match for the NXT Women's Championship: Lyra Valkyria (c) vs. Roxanne Perez vs. Lola Vice

RESULT: Lyra Valkyria pinned Vice to retain.
THOUGHTS: Vice had come out during the match and optioned her Breakout contract to turn this into a Triple Threat. The outcome was lame. The match wasn't impressive. And I don't want to see a rematch between Valkyria and Perez like they're hoping I'm going to want. I'm flat out not interested in Roxanne cutting these awful promos where she's heading toward a heel turn. Once she does it, it's not going to make a difference, as she still won't be believeable, nor can Valkyria cut any promos to offset that. We're looking at 2 months of stalling with bad content until we get a rematch that's underwhelming at Stand & Deliver. Laaaaaaaaaaaaame.

Singles match for the NXT North American Championship: Oba Femi (c) vs. Dragon Lee

RESULT: Oba Femi retained by pinfall.
THOUGHTS: Bland. I like them both, but I couldn't get into it. Part of it is my mood (#WeWantCody, among other things outside of WWE) and part of it is that we just knew this was the outcome and it was a foregone conclusion. They didn't do anything to make me forget that.

Singles match for the NXT Championship: Ilja Dragunov (c) vs. Trick Williams

RESULT: Ilja Dragunov retained by pinfall
THOUGHTS: Good match. The finish didn't happen exactly as I imagined, but we've got the Melo heel turn regardless. Trick's winning that belt at Stand & Deliver. Now can we get Cody his WrestleMania win over Roman for that belt? Eh?
