WWE NXT Stand & Deliver 2024 Spoilers |
NXT Championship Match: Ilja Dragunov (c) vs. Tony D'Angelo
Honestly, I'm surprised. You've seen how many months I've been saying I assumed this would be a Triple Threat between Dragunov, Carmelo Hayes and Trick Williams. I didn't have Tony D on my list as a contender in any fashion whatsoever.
PREDICTION: Tony D'Angelo wins the title.
Carmelo Hayes vs. Trick Williams
I'm surprised this hasn't (at least, yet) been converted into some gimmick match. Adding a stipulation to it would make perfect sense, as these two should be fighting in a true grudge feud situation where they can use weapons. Loser leaves NXT, as it isn't big enough for the both of them and Hayes should go to Raw or SmackDown? Street Fight? Unsanctioned match? Whatever the case, Trick has to win in order to get his proper vengeance. This could arguably main event over the NXT Championship match.
PREDICTION: Trick Williams wins.
NXT Women's Championship: Lyra Valkyria (c) vs. Roxanne Perez
So, the match we had at the last event, on repeat, but this time, Perez is more exactly the same she was before (pouty) and Valkyria has a busted arm and shouldn't be able to logically put on as good of a match as the last time, which I already found kind of blah. They just don't have Lola Vice involved. Granted, that didn't make the last one any better. But yeah...to say I'm underwhelmed with this is an understatement. This is the least interesting scenario we've ever had for "the biggest women's title match" we can get on "the biggest NXT show of the year." They'd have been better off not having Roxanne get involved with Lyra up until recently and just did the Vice and Valkyria match solo before. At least then, this wouldn't be a copy/paste where nothing's changed.
PREDICTION: Roxanne Perez wins the title. Duh.
Triple Threat Match for the NXT North American Championship: Oba Femi (c) vs. Dijak vs. Josh Briggs
PREDICTION: Oba Femi retains.
NXT Tag Team Championship Match: The Wolf Dogs (c) vs. Axiom & Nathan Frazer
Wow...this isn't The Good Brothers challenging?! I thought that was a guarantee they'd be the No. 1 contenders. Now, I don't know what to think. Axiom and Frazer don't strike me as the guys to win the titles, but if I was so dead wrong about this, maybe I'm wrong about that, too.
PREDICTION: The Wolf Dogs retain.
Six-Woman Tag Team Match: Thea Hail, Fallon Henley & Kelani Jordan vs. Jacy Jayne, Kiana James & Izzi Dame
I still say Wren Sinclair should've been in the mix here to offset Jazmyn Nyx, but hey, it was boiling down to these 6 women anyway, so it still works 99% of the equation. I'm glad to see the storyline between Hail and Jayne is getting a chance to finish on a bigger stage, instead of just being tossed on the sidelines like what Von Wagner and Lexis King seem to have been relegated to.
Joe Gacy vs. Shawn Spears
This is pretty solid for a kickoff match. I'm down for it. I'd assume Gacy isn't too injured from his match with Oba Femi or they would have avoided announcing this. Spears getting the victory makes the most sense to me. Gacy doesn't need the win by any means, but Spears should be kept as a top heel.
