WWE Backlash 2024 Results |
No Disqualification Tag Team Street Fight: Kevin Owens and Randy Orton vs. The Bloodline's Solo Sikoa and Tama Tonga
RESULT: Solo Sikoa and Tama Tonga won by pinfall.
THOUGHTS: It was a great call to have this become a No DQ match. The crowd's awesome today. These guys put on a good show and it was made all that much better by the surprise interference by Tonga Loa. Thumbs up.
Triple Threat Match for the WWE Women's Championship: Bayley (c) vs. Naomi vs. Tiffany Stratton
RESULT: Bayley retained by pinfall over Naomi.
THOUGHTS: This had a bit of an odd feel to it. In particular, the ending came out of nowhere and so much attention was put on Naomi being happy for Bayley. It wasn't a bad match, but it just felt strange to me. Anyone else feel that way?
Singles Match for the World Heavyweight Championship: Damian Priest (c) vs. Jey Uso
THOUGHTS: The most interesting thing about this to me was Priest pushing JD McDonagh and Finn Balor away from continuing to beat down on Jey after the match. The match itself was solid, but that story element has me more intrigued for the future of Priest's title reign and if we'll see him turn babyface rather soon.
WWE Women's Tag Team Championship Match: The Kabuki Warriors Asuka & Kairi Sane (c) vs. Bianca Belair & Jade Cargill
RESULT: Bianca Belair & Jade Cargill won the titles by pinfall!
THOUGHTS: This match had a lot of moments that were messy with miscommunication and it really affected it. I'm glad we have new champions, but I wish the bout itself was cleaner.
Singles Match for the Undisputed WWE Championship: Cody Rhodes (c) vs. AJ Styles
RESULT: Cody Rhodes retained his title by pinfall.
THOUGHTS: Solid match. Nothing game-changing, but that's okay.
