The following are my predictions for the 2024 AEW WrestleDream PPV. Check back for WrestleDream 2024 results and review coverage here when the time comes.
AEW World Championship Match: Bryan Danielson (c) vs. Jon Moxley
I'm 50/50 on this. It wouldn't shock me at all if Danielson loses the title here in Washington and the whole setup of Darby Allin losing the title shot to Moxley at Grand Slam ends up resulting in Allin being the guy to beat Moxley. However, it's simpler to just have Danielson retain and drop the title to Allin in the future, as there's just as much of a chance his "I need neck surgery" time table is imminent as it is far off from now. They do keep specifying as well that when Danielson loses the title, his full-time in-ring career is over, but that leaves room open for him to continue to wrestle beyond that, just at a lesser pace. Maybe he drops the belt to Moxley, gets surgery, and comes back sometime in 2025 to wrestle at least one more match? Hell, I don't know.
PREDICTION: Jon Moxley wins the title.
AEW TNT Championship Match: Jack Perry (c) vs. Katsuyori Shibata
Shibata is a great challenger for Perry to beat along the way of his title reign. Solid choice. They'll have a really good match, Perry will retain, and we'll move on. I don't think there's anything more to it than a simple breakdown like that.
ROH World Championship Match: Mark Briscoe (c) vs. Chris Jericho
Is Jericho just revisiting all his previous storylines for a second go-around? If he wins this belt, then I think it'll be confirmation he's run out of ideas and is just trying to rehash what he's already done. I don't think that will be the case, though. Yes, Jericho in ROH could be a boost for that brand if they're looking for some kind of network deal or whatever, but wouldn't that have already been sorted out by now?
