Welcome to another edition of POINTS OF IMPACT—a breakdown of the top moments of this week's edition of Impact Wrestling.

This segment will fill you in on the most important parts of the show worth checking out or keeping up to date with, in case you missed this episode of Impact Wrestling.

Without further ado, let's inspect the biggest takeaways of the week!

IMPACT WRESTLING: DECEMBER 14, 2023 RESULTS

#5 - Hard To Miss

Imapact certainly can’t be accused of half-assing their rebirth weekend, as following the announcement earlier this week that Kazuchika Okada would be at the Snake Eyes event on January 14th, we received multiple further updates about that weekend’s shows. First was the announcement that the Lucha sensation El Hiii Del Vikingo would be at Hard to Kill and Snake Eyes. Though no opponent was announced in this week’s episode, the AAA Mega Champion’s return to TNA is sure to be fun.

Following this came the announcement that at Snake Eyes, we’ll be lucky enough to see the follow-up to the instant classic that was Will Ospreay Vs Josh Alexander. Announced in a promo in which Alexander vows to be the standard of TNA going forward, if this match is anything like their first, TNA are set for a strong start to their year.

#4 - PCOHIO

Hard to Kill is set to be the first helping of fresh content from TNA, and so to close out 2023, it seems we’ll be treated to end of year awards and unseen matches, referred to as “Hidden Gems.” The latter was the basis of this week’s episode, and a notable Hidden Gem was PCO Vs Deaner, in No DQ action.

This is your standard PCO fare. The crafty heel causes PCO to land in several positions that prove his spine is made of rubber, yet PCO always manages, through brute strength and endurance, to find a way to win. This time, PCO had some help. With this match taking place not long after Sami Callihan betrayed the Design, both Alan Angels and Kon were on hand to help Deaner here, attacking PCO. They were chased off by OVE however, allowing PCO to win after nailing the PCOsault.

When you’ve seen one PCO match, you’ve seen them all. But who cares when it’s this fun?

#3 - MK Extra

In one or two knockouts matches shown this week, Giselle Shaw and Savannah Evans, accompanied as always by Jai Vidal, took on a pre-Knockouts title reign MK Ultra in tag team action. This match was fun, fast paced and proof of all four women’s contributions to the best women’s division in America.

Killer Kelly was a house on fire to start the match, a switch-up of her usual, methodically-paced mind games. The heels would take control however, and absolutely batter Kelly, Shaw throwing some brutal-sounding chops. This wouldn’t last, as Masha Slamovich would tag in and, using Kelly as a weapon at points, even the odds. With a double knee combo into a double piledriver, MK Ultra picked up the win.

#2 - Just One Farewell

In his last match for Impact Wrestling after having been fired after retrieving the unlucky breifcase in the Feast or Fired match earlier this year, Yuya Uemura got one hell of a farewell, against the aforementioned standard of Impact, Josh Alexander.

This match didn’t re-invent the wheel of farewell matches. Yuya gave it all he had against one of Impact’s aces, nothing left to lose, showing all he’d learnt on his excursion. But Alexander, the longest-reigning World Champion, battled through it all, including Uemura targeting his previously injured arm. After knocking the life out of Uemura with a series of forearms, the C4 Spike sealed the deal for the Walking Weapon.

#1 - Àngel Del Sol

In this writer’s personal favourite match from this week’s episode, the reborn, rock and roll Alan Angels took on Samuray Del Sol in singles action. Proving why he always had the affection of the fans despite poor booking in WWE, Del Sol looked amazing here, against one of today’s most underrated in Angels.

Despite starting our respectful, the match would soon turn into Angels getting in cheap shots like eye pokes, after mockingly climbing the ropes as if for a springboard arm drag. Angels would hold his own against Del Sol, proving he can go when he wants to, but his insistence on cheap tricks would be his undoing. After crotching Del Sol on the top rope, Angels would attempt to rip off the luchador’s mask. This would be countered into a Salida Del Sol, giving Samuray his first singles win in Impact.
