Welcome to another edition of CALL THE SPOT ON THE CARD, where we present a list of wrestlers and you must choose what place on the WWE Roster Hierarchy they should be put in: 1) Main Event, 2) Upper Midcard, 3) Midcard, 4) Jobber, or 5) Released.
The rules are that each spot must be filled and only one person can be in each spot, so no ties can happen, nor can anyone opt out. No matter how difficult it might be, you have to pick.
Per usual for Survivor Series, this edition will actually feature multiple separate lists based on the teams from the different brands ranked among their teammates.
2023 WOMEN'S SURVIVOR SERIES WARGAMES MATCH
BIANCA BELAIR'S BABYFACE TEAM = Becky Lynch vs. Bianca Belair vs. Charlotte Flair vs. Shotzi
DAMAGE CTRL = Asuka vs. Bayley vs. Iyo Sky vs. Kairi Sane
5) RELEASED = n/a
There are only 4 people on each team. That means, we finally get to do a round of these without releasing someone! They're spared! Yay! Good, because I wouldn't want to let any of these women off my roster.
4) JOBBER = Shotzi / Bayley
Unfortunately, Shotzi is in a list with three heavy hitters. She can't possibly compare to bumping any of them off a higher spot.
Bayley isn't someone I'd want to put in a jobber role, either, but she's the best of the three that could create sympathy for herself in that spot, rather than just outright looking bad. I think it could be the spark for a babyface turn.
3) MIDCARD = Charlotte Flair / Kairi Sane
Since she's spent so much time away, and I think Becky and Bianca are not only overall better at this particular moment, but also more over with the crowd, I think a midcard spot for Flair could do wonders in giving her some sympathy for fans to actually want to see her back on top eventually, rather than being sick of that.
When it comes to Kairi Sane, I'm very glad she's back in WWE. But when you look at Asuka, Iyo and Kairi, between them, Kairi's the least established as a main event potential star. I do think she has it in her, but if WWE only just got around to doing that with Iyo, it'll take some time for Sane.
2) UPPER MIDCARD = Becky Lynch / Asuka
This might be blasphemous, but I think it's been good to see Lynch take a step down lately. When The Man works with talent like Zoey Stark and Xia Li and Lyra Valkyria, it makes them feel like bigger deals. She'll be winning another title soon enough, but now is the time for Belair to still be on top.
Asuka is awesome. Underrated in a lot of ways. But she can fit the same position that I just mentioned for Lynch. Not much to unpack here.
1) MAIN EVENT = Bianca Belair / Iyo Sky
As great as Lynch is, Belair is even better in the ring and still overall fresher to me as a main event star. This was a tough call, though.
Also, as great as Asuka is, now, it's Iyo's turn. We've seen Asuka on top. Let's give some more time to Sky before writing her off in favor of the more established of the two.
2023 MEN'S SURVIVOR SERIES WARGAMES MATCH
THE JUDGMENT DAY = Damian Priest vs. Dominik Mysterio vs. Drew McIntyre vs. Finn Balor vs. JD McDonagh
TEAM CODY = Cody Rhodes vs. Jey Uso vs. Randy Orton vs. Sami Zayn vs. Seth Rollins
5) RELEASED = JD McDonagh / Sami Zayn
As always, I don't want to release people. That especially would go for Sami Zayn. But if any of these guys could go elsewhere, win a world title and be a bigger deal than he currently is, I think Zayn's the one to fit that bill.
JD McDonagh, on the other hand, would just be because he's the guy with the least traction right now. I like him, but his departure would make the smallest splash on the roster, realistically.
4) JOBBER = Dominik Mysterio / Jey Uso
Dom would be a great jobber. He's a comedic enough character to pull it off.
"Main Event" Jey Uso in a jobber spot sucks, but look at the team he's surrounded by. Maybe there's a story to tell of him realizing he's better off part of The Bloodline? Yeah, I wouldn't want to do that, either, but the nature of this game is making tough calls and I'm trying to justify a terrible decision.
3) MIDCARD = Finn Balor / Seth Rollins
Balor has had his time in the sun and I ultimately think Priest and McIntyre have more to offer the higher spots on the card.
Similarly, even though Rollins is top of the line material, I'd rather him take a step down than Orton or Rhodes at this particular moment.
Both guys will go into the Hall of Fame, undoubtedly, as many others on these two groups will.
2) UPPER MIDCARD = Damian Priest / Randy Orton
Can we give Priest the main event push, finally? He's not QUITE there, but he's close enough, hence this spot.
Orton being a final boss for people to ascend the throne makes sense to me.
1) MAIN EVENT = Drew McIntyre / Cody Rhodes
Who ascends that Orton throne? Well, Cody, naturally. If this guy doesn't beat Roman Reigns at WrestleMania 40, I'll rip my hair out.
And then, to round out this list, McIntyre is the biggest dude on that team, the most legitimate choice for a world champion at this moment and the guy with the freshest heel turn. I'd be more into him fighting for a world title than the others if I absolutely had to limit it to just one.
