Welcome to another edition of POINTS OF IMPACT—a breakdown of the top moments of this week's edition of Impact Wrestling.
This segment will fill you in on the most important parts of the show worth checking out or keeping up to date with, in case you missed this episode of Impact Wrestling.
Without further ado, let's inspect the biggest takeaways of the week!
IMPACT WRESTLING: AUGUST 31, 2023 RESULTS
#5 - Hide Or Die
This week’s edition of Impact started with a Knockouts Battle Royal, to determine who will challenge Trinity at the Victory Road special episode in a few weeks’ time. An entertaining scramble containing most of the division, it looked as if Jody Threat was on the verge of winning, when Alisha Edwards, who’d been hiding under the ring, pushed Threat and KiLynn King out of the ring, winning the match.
#4 - Damn Your Eyes
The continued descent into…well, even more craziness by Crazzy Steve continued this week, as Steve took on Speedball Mike Bailey in singles action. The match itself wouldn’t last long, with Steve being disqualified right away after refusing to break his grip on Speedball’s eyes after a count of 5. Steve would persist however, attacking Speedball, the referee, and even his tag partner Black Taurus, deadset on claiming someone’s eyes, and “making them see.”
Finally, something interesting for Steve to do.
#3 - Just 3 Guys
SANADA is back on Imapact TV, teaming with Jake Something and Kazarian to take on Moose, Eddie Edwards and Brian Myers in this week’s main event. Impact loves a good rag match to end a show, and while it may be a tired trope, it is a trope that works nonetheless. SANADA is a new man compared to when he last graced Impact TV screens, and his team, thanks to Jake Something, achieved victory.
#2 - I’m Too Tired to Think Of A Pun
Chris Sabin and Zachary Wentz went at it in singles action this week, after a confrontation backstage earlier in the show. Accompanied by their respective partners, the two put on, essentially, the match you’d expect from them. An absolute thriller, for once the interference of the Rascalz would backfire, with Sabin scoring the pinfall win over Wentz after taking out both Wentz and Trey Miguel with a dive assisted by Alex Shelley, and then nailing Wentz with the CradleShock to pick up the win.
#1 - New Mask, Same Maniac
Eric Young, fresh off of seemingly beating Deaner for good at Emergence, tried to tie up another loose end this week, facing Kon. In what was a great showcase match for the big man, and a match that felt fitting for the stakes of the story being told, the two men went all out.
The atmosphere was no doubt helped by Eric Young’s home country advantage, the crowd firmly behind him, but he made this match work. He’s as good as ever, and after almost winning by countout via a piledriver on the floor, EY would fulfil Kon’s request and finish him with another in the ring to pick up the win.
