Welcome to another edition of POINTS OF IMPACT—a breakdown of the top moments of this week's edition of Impact Wrestling.
This segment will fill you in on the most important parts of the show worth checking out or keeping up to date with, in case you missed this episode of Impact Wrestling.
Without further ado, let's inspect the biggest takeaways of the week!
IMPACT WRESTLING: AUGUST 10, 2023 RESULTS
#5 - Crazily Vulnerable Steve
After feeling left out by the Death Dollz, and his partner Black Taurus, Crazy Steve seems to be opening up to the Impact audience. In what appears to be the first in a series of sit down interviews segments, Steve acknowledged not only his feelings of abandonment, but his being legally blind. The segment ended as Steve’s family was brought up. This was a nice change of pace for the character. Hopefully Impact keeps it compelling next week.
#4 - Something Dirty
After having insulted Bhupinder Gujjar in a prior pre-taped segment, Dirty Dango faced Gujjar in singles action this week. The match was standard fare for both men, Gujjar the resilient face, Dango the cheating heel. Dango would win with a Reverse DDT, after interference from Alpha Bravo. What happened after the bell, however might draw more attention.
Jake Something would interrupt Dango during his post match promo, saying if Dango hated Impact so much, he should leave, but Something made him leave. Dango would feign retreat, only to try to attack Something from behind, but Something saw this coming, and decked Dango.
#3 - Threat to Women Everywhere
Alisha Edwards would face her rival Jody Threat in shingles action this week, the two having quite the physical match throughout. Towards the end of the match, Eddie Edwards would get involved, tripping Threat. He would be decked by Kazarian for his efforts, allowing Threat to pick up the win.
After the bell, Kazarian looked posed to nail Edwards with his signature kendo stick, but as he swung back, he accidentally hit Alisha with the kendo stick, knocking her out.
#2 - Guns Up, Guns Down
In this week’s opening match, Sami Callihan and Rich Swann faced ABC in the latest from tag title contention tournament. As one would expect from these teams, the action was fast paced and innovative from the start, from outstanding arm drags to a Cactus Driver on the apron.
The end of the match was less than outstanding for both teams, however, as although Swann and Callihan got the win, it was unknowingly with the help of the Good Hands, who interfered. Why they interfered, neither myself nor commentary know, but time will tell.
#1 - Skullsplitter
Without a doubt the most entertaining match of the week was Speedball Mike Bailey taking on the Time Splitter, Kushida, in singles action. The two have insane chemistry with each other, and if I’m honest, I don’t really feel I can do the match justice. It was a beautiful, gripping whirlwind of grappling, strikes and resilience, a fast paced chess match between two unique masters of their craft.
After much back and forth, including an Avalanche Hoverboard Lock, Kushida was able to put Speedball away with the Back to the Future.
