Welcome to another edition of POINTS OF IMPACT—a breakdown of the top moments of this week's edition of Impact Wrestling.
This segment will fill you in on the most important parts of the show worth checking out or keeping up to date with, in case you missed this episode of Impact Wrestling.
Without further ado, let's inspect the biggest takeaways of the week!
IMPACT WRESTLING: JUNE 29, 2023 RESULTS
#5 - Losing In Style
The executive stylist to Giselle Shaw, Jai Vidal, faced Trinity in an Intergender singles match this week, after having attacked Trinity on behalf of Shaw multiple times over the past few weeks.
To call this a squash match wouldn’t accurate, as Vidal did get some offense in against the former Naomi, but the result was never in question. After a pendulum piledriver, Trinity locked in the Starstruck to pick up the submission win.
After the bell, Trinity would be jumped by Shaw and co. After observing the situation for a few cautious moments, Deonna Purazzo, who had been on commentary for the match, came to Trinity’s aid, fighting off Shaw, Evans and Vidal.
#4 - Fall Of A King Part 1
Kenny King took on the Young Lion if Impact, Yuya Uemura, in a compelling singles match this week. If you know either of these men, you’ll know what to expect from this matchup, with Yuya being the fiery, strong babyface to Kenny’s agile yet cunning heel. After a botched-looking Royal Flush, King would pick up the win.
After the bell, King’s celebration would be interrupted by Joe Hendry, who made Kenny the latest victim of the Hendry music video treatment, this video centred around how Kenny was happiest in 2013, during his time as a male stripper.
#3 - Fall Of A King Part 2
To continue the theme of people with the last name “King” having a rough evening, KiLynn King would lose in singles action to Masha Slamovich this week. In a match that got more time than this writer was expecting, the heavy of the Coven and the modern master of the Snow Plow battered each other, before interference would come back to bite the Coven.
As always, King was accompanied to the ring by Taylor Wilde, who tried to interfere. She was accosted in the form of being choked with a dog collar by Killer Kelly, the distraction of which would allow Masha Slamovich to nail a spin kick and a Snow Plow to get the pin.
After the bell, Kelly would attach the dog collar to herself, and Masha would do the same. An exciting and dangerous bond cemented.
#2 - Bloody Rascalz
In his contractually obligated rematch for the X Division Champion ship, Trey Miguel would challenge Chris Sabin in this week’s opening match. The two were right at each other’s throats, the chemistry clear, trying to one up each other constantly. If you’re a fan of either man, this match, mostly, won’t disappoint.
The ending of the match might disappoint some, but excite others. As Sabin looked to put Miguel away with the Cradle Shock, Zachary Wentz made his return to Impact, interfering on behalf of Miguel, and reuniting the Rascalz with a backstage promo after.
#1 - Motor City Misfire
Nick Aldis finally addressed his recent actions this week, even inviting Alex Shelley to ringside to hear the explanation. In the final segment of the evening, Aldis gave a…quite frankly boring explanation for why he did what he did, saying he felt disrespected by Shelley and Sabin in the 10 man tag two weeks prior.
Shelley would proceed to get into a scuffle with Aldis, with Aldis getting the better of the exchange due to an eye rake. Before he could hit Shelley with the belt once more, Sabin would make the save, but this battle wont go down in history as being awarded to the MCMG. Taking advantage of the opportunity, Lio Rush, who had returned to Impact earlier in the night, helped Aldis attack the Guns, setting his sights on the X Division title in the process.
