This segment will fill you in on the most important parts of the show worth checking out or keeping up to date with, in case you missed this episode of Impact Wrestling.
Without further ado, let's inspect the biggest takeaways of the week!
IMPACT WRESTLING: JULY 13, 2023 RESULTS
#5 - You Shouldn’t Be Ashamed of Being A Sexy Man
In a preview of their match at Slammiversary, Joe Hendry and Kenny King faced each other in tag competition this week, with Yuya Uemura and Sheldon Jean as their respective tag partners. A fun filler match, the crowd were definitely behind Hendry and Uemura, mocking “Stripper Kenny” to the point King left his tag partner to fend for himself.
Jean wouldn’t last long after this, with a kick by Uemura and the Standing Ovation by Hendry securing the win for the faces.
#4 - Most Professional Moose
In a thrilling tag match, Moose and Brian Myers faced the recently reunited Rich Swann and Sami Callihan. I’ve spoken before of the chemistry between Moose and Swann, and that was present in abundance as always in this match, but credit must also go to Callihan, who was as entertaining as ever, and Myers, who just might be the best bumper on the Impact roster.
Everyone played their parts incredibly well, and these two teams feel like actual teams, something that can’t always be said for modern tag teams. After a distraction from Myers, Moose was able to hit a Low Blow and the Lights Out spear on Callihan to secure the win.
#3 - (Not As) Easy As ABC
Zachary Wentz made his Impact in-ring return this week, facing Chris Bey in singles action. This match was set up last week by Wentz, as a way to get into contention for the Impact World Tag Team Championships held by ABC, and while it isn’t the best Chris Bey match this year, it sure as hell didn’t disappoint.
Wentz and Bey have great chemistry, both of them being young masters of the fast-paced American indie style, and Wentz is surprisingly refreshing as a cocky heel. After a distraction provided by Trey Miguel attacking Ace Austin at ringside, Wentz nailed Bey with a Snapmare Driver to get the pinfall victory.
#2 - Virtuosas and Rockers and Cannibals Oh My!
Confident she’ll defeat Trinity at Slammiversary, Knockouts World Champion issued an open challenge to close this week’s Impact, with the challenge being answered by the undefeated in Impact punk rocker, Jody Threat. The two women had a great back and forth match, Purrazzo retaining with the Venus Di Milo, but what happened after the bell was more notable.
Purrazzo and Threat, showing each other respect, would be jumped by Giselle Shaw, Savannah Evans and Jai Vidal. Shaw and co would be intercepted by the Death Dollz, who were intercepted by the Coven, who were intercepted by Masha Slamovich and Killer Kelly. Finally, Trinity (and a handful of security guards) would run out to neutralise the heels, with the segment. ending with a standoff and brief brawl between Purrazzo and Trinity.
Now that was an ordeal.
#1 - Jet Crash
In what was the exciting match of this week, and a preview of the Ultimate X match at Slammiversary, Kevin Knight faced Speedball Mike Bailey in a tightly paced, tightly worked singles match. This match was a perfect example of how to look good in defeat, as even though Bailey would ultimately pick up the win his usual Whirlwind Kick and Ultima Weapon, Knight was by no means a pushover.
He endured multiple big moves from Bailey, and even with Bailey targeting his back throughout the match, was able to perform various athletic feats, such as his absolutely beautiful dropkick. He might not have won the match, but he had the kind of match that wins fans.
