Points of Impact Wrestling June 1, 2023 Results and Biggest Moments

Posted by Cherry Turner Saturday, June 3, 2023

Welcome to another edition of POINTS OF IMPACT—a breakdown of the top moments of this week's edition of Impact Wrestling.

This segment will fill you in on the most important parts of the show worth checking out or keeping up to date with, in case you missed this episode of Impact Wrestling.

Without further ado, let's inspect the biggest takeaways of the week!

IMPACT WRESTLING: JUNE 1, 2023 RESULTS

#5 - Welcome Back, Miss Evans

In one of two Knockouts matches this week, (we’ll get to the other, don’t worry) Trinity on the personal security detail to Giselle Shaw, Savannah Evans. A simple but effective David Vs Goliath story, Trinity chipped away at the Cannibal with strikes and aerial manoeuvres, while Savannah played the power game.

A sunset flip out of the corner into the Starstruck submission would allow Trinity to pick up the win. After the match, Deonna Purrazzo would come out to the ring, to make Trinity vs Purrazzo at Slammiversary. Th is was cut short when Giselle and co attacked the pair. Jordynne Grace would try to make the save, but she ended up beaten down as well, eating 3 Denouement knee strikes from Shaw.

This battle goes to the Quintessential Diva, the Cannibal, and…whatever Jai Vidal’s nickname is. I genuinely don’t know.

#4 - Work Hard, Die Hard

Fan favourite Young Lion Yuya Uemura took on Eddie Edwards, accompanied by his wife Alisha, in singles action this week. The match itself was standard fare from both men, which is by no means a bad thing. Edwards plays the fallen hero well, and Uemura remains ever-likeable. Edwards would, after a good back and forth, pick up the win with a Boston Knee Party.

After pulling the ol’ fake handshake trick on Uemura after the bell, Edwards was accosted by Kazarian, who seems to be leaning into the gimmick of lockerroom leader. After Edwards tried to walk away, Kaz grabbed him, Edwards swung, and Kaz dropped Edwards. Alisha would jump on Kaz’s back, defending her husband, but she was shaken off by Kaz as well.

#3 - Design Vs Everything

Sami Callihan and Jake Crist faced Decay in a short, snappy affair this week, clearly set up to re-establish Callihan and Crist as a formidable force. While this writer doesn’t think using Decay as jobbers is a good idea, it is nice to see the Ohio duo back together. After picking up the win, however, Callihan and Crist suffered another beatdown by the Design.

Rich Swann would make the delayed save, something Callihan was angry about backstage. Swann informed Callihan he was signing a contract for the upcoming 8-4-1 match when the beatdown started, which is why he couldn’t make the save right away, and also why he can’t help Callihan at Against All Odds.

Callihan, knowing he needs a third, simply said “it’s time for the doctor to call the monster.” A monster, or perhaps, a madman?

#2 - Blame it on the Subculture Part 1

In the other Knockouts match of the evening, Dani Luna of Subculture faced Jody Threat in a battle of the punks. Threat brought her incredible energy and explosiveness to the battle, and Luna brought her power and resilience, making this one of, in this writer’s opinion, the standout matches of this week’s episode. After near-fall after near-fall, Threat would hit the F-Bomb to pick up the win.

#1 - Blame It On The Subculture Part 2

It should come as no surprise to anyone who’s read my Impact reviews before that this was my favourite match from this week’s episode of Impact. The MCMG remain one of the best tag teams of all time, and when their open challenge to Steve Maclin and Bully Ray was turned down with a reply of “not tonight,” Subculture would walk out and accept the challenge instead.

It feels great to see Mark Andrews back in Impact, and Flash Morgan Webster fits the Impact vibe like a glove. Describing the excitement, the back and forth frantic energy of this match wouldn’t do it justice. Seek it out, watch it. You won’t regret it.

The Guns would end the match, and this episode of Impact, with the Dirtbomb to pick up the win.
