The WWE NXT Women's Championship has changed hands as Indi Hartwell defeated Gigi Dolin, Lyra Valkyria, Tiffany Stratton, Zoey Stark and Roxanne Perez to win the title at NXT Stand & Deliver on April 1, 2023.
My immediate reaction: Once they started this whole collapsing angle, and particularly when they had Roxanne potentially dropping the belt, I figured a title change was the endgame. But I wasn't at all thinking Indi Hartwell was the next in line. It seemed like Tiffany Stratton or Zoey Stark to me. Perez wasn't seemingly going to win the title as early as she did to begin with, but they switched it up to get Mandy Rose out. Maybe they were having cold feet on Perez being ready for a full reign, or they figured she already accomplished enough as champion that it was time to go to someone else. Or, maybe she does actually have something going on that they want to keep an eye on, as far as medical issues go—but I'd assume if that were the case, she wouldn't have been wrestling here. Whatever the case, I'm sure Perez will bounce back, as she's very talented, and I'm on board to see what our new champ has in store if they felt like Indi was ready. Maybe she is. Maybe she isn't. We'll see.
Since this happened, be sure to check out the updated full list of title changes for this year and the list of current champions and my predictions for who will take the belts away from them.
