WWE Elimination Chamber 2023 Spoilers |
Elimination Chamber Match for the United States Championship: Austin Theory (c) vs. Bronson Reed vs. Damian Priest vs. Johnny Gargano. Montez Ford vs. Seth Rollins
I can't picture Austin Theory is going to lose the title unless they specifically want to have him lose to John Cena without it being a non-title match.
Granted, that's a possibility. Maybe Theory loses the belt because of Cena's interference, they have a grudge match, and someone else defends the United States Championship (like Seth Rollins against Logan Paul).
Montez Ford's spot in this match is intriguing to me. I would have imagined Baron Corbin, Dominik Mysterio, maybe Mustafa Ali, a returning Matt Riddle, etc being in here instead. With that being said, I don't think that means Ford is coming out on top to be a surprise.
I'll stick with Theory keeping the belt, as the only person I could imagine winning this instead would be Johnny Gargano, and I don't picture that necessarily being his role at WrestleMania. I certainly wouldn't be opposed to it, though.
PREDICTION: Austin Theory retains the title.
Elimination Chamber Match for Raw Women's
Championship Title Shot at WrestleMania: Asuka vs. Carmella vs. Liv Morgan vs. Natalya vs. Nikki Cross vs. Raquel Rodriguez
I had thought Ronda Rousey or Naomi would make the most sense. Then, I thought Shayna Baszler or Lacey Evans had the best chances. Lo and behold, none of them are in this match. Go figure.
At this point, none of these Superstars make up for a super duper OMG match against Bianca Belair from my perspective. They're talented, sure, and I'm a fan of them, but it doesn't scream "WrestleMania-worthy". More so, "I guess this is good enough for the time being." no matter who wins.
I guess Asuka? Frankly, it's a crapshoot. I don't think WWE had a strong idea of what to do with this title for WrestleMania heading into Royal Rumble and they're somewhat scrambling for a plan C, rather than a plan B or their top choice. That's not to say Asuka is bad. She's been underutilized. But she doesn't have the momentum on her side right now for her to feel like a big deal against Belair, after several years of being on the sidelines. That takes time to rehab. A new mask and face paint doesn't fix it all in two weeks.
PREDICTION: Asuka wins.
Undisputed WWE Universal Championship Match: Roman Reigns (c) vs. Sami Zayn
Despite all the support, Sami Zayn isn't winning the title here. I fully expect Jey Uso to interfere, cost Zayn, reaffirm his position in The Bloodline, and set up Zayn and Kevin Owens against The Usos for WrestleMania.
This should be a great match with a lot of passion behind it and a red hot crowd.
PREDICTION: Roman Reigns retains.
Mixed Tag Team Match: Edge and Beth Phoenix vs. The Judgment Day (Finn Balor and Rhea Ripley)
I've said time and time again that I wish this feud between Edge and The Judgment Day would end and I have very little interest in spending another couple months to build to just Edge against Finn Balor, whether it is a Hell in a Cell match or not. But at this point, that seems like a foregone conclusion. With that in mind, as well as the idea of keeping Rhea Ripley looking strong, I don't think Edge and Beth Phoenix are coming out on top of this. Dominik Mysterio will get involved, maybe, and that'll be how Edge justifies wanting to keep Judgment Day out of it with Hell in a Cell at WrestleMania.
Alternatively, maybe WWE wants to have Edge, Rey Mysterio and Bad Bunny against Finn Balor, Dominik Mysterio and Damian Priest at WrestleMania. In that case, Edge and Beth could win, so long as it isn't Rhea Ripley taking the pin.
PREDICTION: The Judgment Day win.
Bobby Lashley vs. Brock Lesnar
I thought this would be a WrestleMania match. Maybe it still will be, and they plan to do an angle here that will, in their mind, extend this with a hotter edge to it. I don't think that's the right course of action, but if they knock this out at Elimination Chamber, what are these two guys going to do at WrestleMania?
That question has me pondering if there is some sort of surprise in mind. Maybe we ARE going to get Stone Cold Steve Austin against Brock Lesnar, and Lashley's just going to be doing something else, whatever that might be, possibly realigned with MVP for The Hurt Business.
But more than likely, I think they're trying to double-down here. Lashley will reform The Hurt Business and beat down Lesnar with their help. Maybe he wins the match through a distraction, or maybe he loses, but they lay out Lesnar after the match. Then, this will lead to either a Fight Pit or Hell in a Cell match at WrestleMania, with Lashley as the definitive heel in the feud.
PREDICTION: Brock Lesnar wins, but Bobby Lashley stands tall at the end of the segment.
