The following are my predictions for the 2023 ROH Supercard of Honor PPV. Check back for Ring of Honor Supercard of Honor 2023 results and review coverage here when the time comes.
ROH Supercard of Honor 2023 Spoilers |
ROH World Championship Match: Claudio Castagnoli (c) vs. Eddie Kingston
This wasn't what I was expecting, but since they have some history together and some beef, this should be pretty interesting. I'm down for it.
PREDICTION: Claudio Castagnoli retains.
ROH World Television Championship Match: Samoa Joe (c) vs. Mark Briscoe
There is no way Samoa Joe is retaining his title in this match. Absolutely not. Mark Briscoe will have to drop the tag titles and this will be a sentimental switch for a different belt. The crowd will be passionately behind this one, which will help considerably boost this as possibly even the main event.
PREDICTION: Mark Briscoe wins the title.
ROH Women's World Championship Match: Athena (c) vs. Yuka Sakazaki
Athena already had a match against Willow Nightingale, which was where I was thinking this would go. Everyone seems to be throwing Yuka Sakazaki out here as Athena's next challenger, but I can't see anything that indicates she's the clear challenger. Maybe I'm not looking close enough.
In any fashion, if she is, she's not beating Athena.
PREDICTION: Athena retains.
ROH Pure Championship Match: Wheeler Yuta (c) vs. Katsuyori Shibata
I know almost nothing about Shibata. While everyone will be marking out over the potential of this match, I can only assume it'll be a fun fight with the potential that I might zone out a bit if it gets a little too "indie-riffic" like some of the pure rules matches can be from my personal tastes.
As far as the winner goes, Yuta is my pick. Shibata isn't signed, as far as I'm aware, and a win for Yuta means more to get him over and continue to build him in the grand scheme of things.
PREDICTION: Wheeler Yuta retains.
Reach for the Sky Ladder Match for the Vacated ROH World Tag Team Championship
Featuring: The Lucha Brothers, Top Flight, The Kingdom, Aussie Open (Mark Davis and Kyle Fletcher) and La Faccion Ingobernable (Rush and Dralistico)
This is tough. I had been saying for a long time that Top Flight was one of my major picks to become the next tag team champions. Lucha Bros would be a good fallback option. The Kingdom, Aussie Open and Rush/Dralistico are certainly not teams to scoff at, either. Theoretically, all of these teams could win and I wouldn't be too shocked. I would say Aussie Open is probably the least likely, but I wouldn't feel comfortable completely ruling them out.
I'll just stick with my original idea, then, even though I don't have much faith that that's any sort of guarantee.
ROH World Six-Man Tag Team Championship Match: The Embassy (c) vs. AR Fox, Blake Christian and Gran Metalik
I'm all in on predicting The Embassy will retain here. The other three just seem thrown together to be challengers, rather than a group next in line to hold the belts.
There will be flips and power moves and this will be fun. Then, ultimately, Prince Nana's crew will score a pin and stand tall.
Hiroshi Tanahashi vs. Daniel Garcia
There isn't any real reason for this match, but that's par for the course. At least we know it should be great, given the two competitors.
This page will be altered on a regular basis to reflect changes to the show including any new matches added to the lineup, adjustments to the card, revised predictions and any other information about this event. Stay tuned for the latest updates!
