Welcome to another edition of WOMEN'S WRESTLING WEEKLY—a rundown of the events which have transpired in the world of women's professional wrestling over the past several days not just with the Superstars on WWE programming, but with Impact Wrestling's Knockouts, ROH's Women of Honor, and even a glimpse at the women on the independent circuit.
WWE Monday Night Raw
Mia Yim vs Tamina
Squash City! And damn did Tamina look awful here!
Winner: Mia Yim
Rating: 2/5
Iyo Skye vs Dana Brooke
Squash City! And guess what? Dana Brooke also looked dogshit here!
Winner: Iyo Skye
Rating: 2/5
AEW Dark: Elevation
Tay Melo vs Paris Van Dale
Squash City!
Winner: Tay Melo
Rating: 2/5
Athena vs Kayla Sparks
Squash City!
Winner: Athena
Rating: 2/5
Mei Suruga & Emi Sakura vs Riho & Willow Nightingale
This was a very enjoyable bout, featuring some high octane action that justfied it's position as the main event of the night. Riho, in particular, as an absolute delight within AEW's women's division, and she looked absolutely fantastic in the ring here.
Winner: Riho & Willow Nightingale
Rating: 3/5
WWE NXT 2.0
Indi Hartwell vs Tatum Paxley
Squash City!
Winner: Indi Hartwell
Rating: 2/5
Mandy Rose vs Alba Fyre
This was very much a match of two halves, as the action prior to the finish was definitely more than serviceable. However, having Isla Dawn cost Alba Fyre the victory fell extremely flat, with Mandy Rose once again escaping with the NXT Women's Championship. That is not to say I have an issue with her as Champion, but the execution of the match finish detracted from the overall enjoyment level. Put bluntly, the finish left me extremely irate.
Winner: Mandy Rose
Rating: 3.5/5
AEW Dark
Skye Blue vs Paris Van Dale
Squash City!
Winner: Skye Blue
Rating: 2/5
Kiera Hogan vs Kennedi Copeland
Squash City!
Winner: Kiera Hogan
Rating: 2/5
Athena vs Little Mean Kathleen
Squash City!
Winner: Athena
Rating: 2/5
AEW Wednesday Night Dynamite
Toni Storm vs Anna Jay
Squash City!
Winner: Toni Storm
Rating: 2/5
Impact Wrestling
Taya Valkyrie vs Tasha Steelz
Essentially all kinds of mediocre. Please avoid this one!
Winner: Taya Valkyrie
Rating: 1.5/5
WWE Friday Night SmackDown
Shotzi vs Shayna Baszler
Fuck me this was awful!!! I'd rather have Shayna Baszler go three minutes with me inside the Octagon than watch another Shotzi match! She is the very definition of the drizzling shits!!!
Winner: Shotzi
Rating: 1/5
WWE NXT Level Up
Thea Hail vs Dani Palmer
Squash City! A very boring sojourn to Squash City!
Winner: Thea Hail
Rating: 2/5
AEW Rampage
Athena vs Madison Rayne
Squash City!
Winner: Athena
Rating: 2/5
AEW Full Gear 2022
Jade Cargill vs Nyla Rose
There was no reason at all for Jade Cargill to lose here, therefore it was fantastic to see her largely dominate Nyla Rose. Cargill is coming into her own in AEW as AEW TBS Champion, and I feel she is on her way to becoming a huge face for the company. As a women's hoss match, this was a fun slice of wrestling.
Winner: Jade Cargill
Rating: 3/5
Saraya vs Britt Baker
I am Team DMD. I do not like Saraya, as her entire attitude is not one I can support, especially as I feel her return to wrestling has been poorly handled. Britt Baker remains as fantastic as ever, but she should not have lost here.
Winner: Saraya
Rating: 3/5
Toni Storm vs Jamie Hayter
I was suprised that Tony Khan went with a title switch here, but that is not to say Jamie Hayter did not deserve it. Yes, Toni Storm has been a solid Interim AEW Women's World Champion, but Hayter has slowly been gathering momentum over the past few months, which means striking whilst the iron is hot was vital. The match action itself was solid enough, but Hayter winning the title was a strong moment for her and fans to enjoy.
Winner: Jamie Hayter
Rating: 3/5
MATCH OF THE WEEK:
Mandy Rose vs Alba Fyre
Although the manage finish was garbage, I did actually really enjoy the action on offer.
WOMAN OF THE WEEK:
Jade Cargill
Jade Cargill managed to get a great match out of Nyla Rose, all whilst looking fantastic. Yes, I may be a 'stan' of 'That Bitch', but I do love what Cargill brings to AEW's women's division.
