Women's Wrestling Weekly Recap & Review #406

Posted by Dallas Allsopp Tuesday, October 25, 2022

Welcome to another edition of WOMEN'S WRESTLING WEEKLY—a rundown of the events which have transpired in the world of women's professional wrestling over the past several days not just with the Superstars on WWE programming, but with Impact Wrestling's Knockouts, ROH's Women of Honor, and even a glimpse at the women on the independent circuit.

WWE Monday Night Raw

Damage CTRL vs Candice LeRae & Bianca Belair

Damage CTRL are the highlight of Raw for me. Each and every week, they speak with such confidence and compete with such vigour that I cannot help but admire their hard work. This week was no different, with all four women here working extremely hard to entertain.

Winner: Damage CTRL

Rating: 3.5/5

AEW Dark: Elevation

Athena vs Jody Threat

Squash City! However, it is intriguing to hear that the belief within AEW is that Athena took liberties with Jody Threat.

Winner: Athena

Rating: 2/5

Emi Sakura & Serena Deeb vs Madison Rayne & Skye Blue

Squash City!

Winner: Emi Sakura & Serena Deeb

Rating: 2/5

WWE NXT 2.0

Rhea Ripley vs Roxanne Perez

Rhea Ripley was never in any threat of losing here, but it was great to see Roxanne Perez be presented on a level similar to that of Ripley. Overall, this was a fine use of a main roster star to get an NXT talent over.

Winner: Rhea Ripley

Rating: 3/5

Alba Fyre vs Sonya Deville

Squash City!

Winner: Alba Fyre

Rating: 2/5

Raquel Rodriguez vs Cora Jade

All angle, no filler.

Winner: Cora Jade

Rating: 2/5

AEW Dark

Hikaru Shida vs Vanessa Kraven

Squash City!

Winner:

Rating: 2/5

Willow Nightingale vs Seleziya Sparx

Squash City!

Winner: Willow Nightingale

Rating: 2/5

AEW Wednesday Night Dynamite

Toni Storm vs Hikaru Shida

Both women are fabulous in the ring, therefore I was expecting a mini classic. Although the heights were not truly met in this bout, both women put on the best women's match on Dynamite for quite a while.

Winner: Toni Storm

Rating: 3/5

Impact Wrestling

Taylor Wilde vs Mia Yim

This match was surprisingly dull, with Mia Yim failing to truly impose herself on the match.

Winner: Taylor Wilde

Rating: 2/5

WWE Friday Night SmackDown

Liv Morgan vs Sonya Deville

What has happened to Liv Morgan? This match was extremely poor, with Morgan now being painted as the crazy woman of the division, which does her a great disservice. Let me also be honest - Sonya Deville remains the drizzling shits!

Winner: Draw

Rating: 1.5/5

Damage CTRL vs Raquel Rodriguez & Shotzi

I had high hopes for the WWE Women's Tag Team Championship match, but I was disappointed in the manner of victory for Damage CTRL. Why? Simply because I feel they should have had a more dominant victory, but it seems they are being booked haphazardly at the moment. Am I asking too much of WWE to present them better? Perhaps, but I still feel the criticism is relevant.

Winner: Damage CTRL

Rating: 2.5/5

WWE NXT Level Up

There were no women's matches this week.

AEW Rampage

Willow Nightingale vs Leila Grey

Squash City!

Winner: Willow Nightingale

Rating: 2/5

WWE NXT Halloween Havoc 2022

Roxanne Perez vs Cora Jade

Both women worked here, putting on a match that was superiror to their usual efforts on NXT 2.0. I had no issue with Roxanne Perez winning, especially as she is the better option of the two to take on Mandy Rose for the NXT Women's Championship.

Winner: Roxanne Perez

Rating: 3/5

Mandy Rose vs Alba Fyre

I'm extremely torn here. I'm no fan of Alba Fyre, and whilst I don't think Mandy Rose is great, she most certainly is representing the women's division well as part of NXT 2.0. This match though was a mess, and I think both women are equally culpable of messing up here. Not once did this feel like a huge NXT Women's Championship, which is a real shame as Halloween Havoc deserved better.

Winner: Mandy Rose

Rating: 2/5

MATCH OF THE WEEK:

Damage CTRL vs Candice LeRae & Bianca Belair

Another slice of consistency from Raw, the gift which keeps on giving.

WOMEN OF THE WEEK:

Damage CTRL

Simply the best team in WWE at the moment. Yes, even moreso than The Bloodline!
