The following are my predictions for the 2023 WWE Royal Rumble PPV. Check back for Royal Rumble 2023 results and review coverage here when the time comes and take part in the WWE Royal Rumble Drinking Game while watching this event, too!
WWE Royal Rumble 2023 Spoilers |
30-Man Royal Rumble Match (2023)
Confirmed participants (19) = Austin Theory, Baron Corbin, Bobby Lashley, Braun Strowman, Brock Lesnar, Cody Rhodes, Dominik Mysterio, Drew McIntyre, Gunther, Karrion Kross, Kofi Kingston, The Miz, Omos, Rey Mysterio, Ricochet, Santos Escobar, Seth Rollins, Sheamus, Xavier Woods and TBD
PREDICTION: The Rock or Cody Rhodes wins. If there's a third option, it has to be Sami Zayn. But I wouldn't count out Roman Reigns finding his way into the match to win just so they can avoid having The Rock win the Royal Rumble, but Reigns "picks his opponent" and they can stall.
30-Woman Royal Rumble Match (2023)
Confirmed participants (12) = Bayley, Candice LeRae, Dakota Kai, Emma, Iyo Sky, Lacey Evans, Liv Morgan, Raquel Rodriguez, Rhea Ripley, Shayna Baszler, Xia Li, Zelina Vega and TBD
PREDICTION: Rhea Ripley or Raquel Rodriguez wins.
Mountain Dew Pitch Black Match: Bray Wyatt vs. LA Knight
Because when I think Bray Wyatt, I clearly think Mountain Dew. Yup.
They haven't specified what this match is all about. That makes me think the gimmick is probably overall underwhelming and could quite literally just be that they mess with the lighting, make it too dark to see anything, and have Uncle Howdy pop up—effectively just killing more time and dragging out doing anything of note for even longer.
Needless to say, I haven't been big on this "brand new, but exactly the same in nearly every way, including all the problematic booking" version of Bray Wyatt that we've been given.
PREDICTION: LA Knight wins due to interference from Uncle Howdy.
Undisputed WWE Universal Championship Match: Roman Reigns (c) vs. Kevin Owens
Let's hope they don't have the same luck with the finish that they did the last time these two fought at Royal Rumble, right? But despite this being a rematch, it's the match that makes the most sense right now to tell the story of Sami Zayn's involvement in The Bloodline. I'm down for it. Plus, I'm a big fan of both Reigns and Owens, so that's a positive, too.
No way Owens wins the title. But I'd imagine there's a good chance Zayn ends up booted out of The Bloodline by what happens here.
Raw Women's Championship Match: Bianca Belair (c) vs. Alexa Bliss
I'm not going to say I would have done a match that ends in b.s. just to wait a few weeks to do it again. But I will say that it makes sense they stretched this out and are doing it on the pay-per-view.
Belair is going to retain. I have no doubt about that whatsoever. Something weird will happen with Uncle Howdy and/or Bray Wyatt and there will be distractions and such, but this time, Belair will be able to compose herself and still hit a KOD for the win. I don't think there's any chance Bliss is holding the belt heading into WrestleMania.
This page will be altered on a regular basis to reflect changes to the show including any new matches added to the lineup, adjustments to the card, revised predictions and any other information about this event. Stay tuned for the latest updates!
