Women's Wrestling Weekly Recap & Review #402

Posted by Dallas Allsopp Monday, September 26, 2022

Welcome to another edition of WOMEN'S WRESTLING WEEKLY—a rundown of the events which have transpired in the world of women's professional wrestling over the past several days not just with the Superstars on WWE programming, but with Impact Wrestling's Knockouts, ROH's Women of Honor, and even a glimpse at the women on the independent circuit.

WWE Monday Night Raw

Alexa Bliss vs Bayley

This was easily the best match of the week, with Bayley standing tall in a match that underlined just how much she has been missed. Bayley has slightly reinvented herself as the leader of Damage CTRL, and following her team winning at Clash at the Castle, it was clear she would face Bianca Belair for the WWE Raw Women's Championship. Was the result of this match a foregone conclusion? Yes, but boy was the journey fun.

Winner: Bayley

Rating: 3/5

AEW Dark: Elevation

Nyla Rose vs B3cca

Super Squash City!

Winner: Nyla Rose

Skye Blue vs Chica Carreras

WWE NXT 2.0

Madison Rayne vs Viva Van

Rating: 2/5

Kilynn Kings vs Sahara Seven

Squash City!

Winner: Kilynn King

Rating: 2/5

AEW Wednesday Night Dynamite - Grand Slam

Toni Storm vs Britt Baker vs Serena Deeb vs Athena

I enjoyed this contest, but I will admit that the 'Interim' aspect of Toni Storm's Interim AEW Women's World Championship reign robs her matches of any drama. Whilst the action was solid, the result was never in any doubt. But hey, at least Saraya debuted...

Winner: Toni Storm

Rating: 3/5

WWE Main Event

Dana Brooke vs Tamina

Straight up garbage!

Winner: Dana Brooke

Rating: 1/5

Impact Wrestling

There were no Knockout's matches this week.

WWE Friday Night SmackDown

Liv Morgan vs Lacey Evans

Lacey Evans is not a WWE superstar. She is clogging up the main roster with a spot that should go to someone more deserving. I like her as a person, but as an in-ring talent, she is dreadful! Liv Morgan looked poor here as a result of Evans' own ineffective performance, therefore this match shit the bed.

Winner: Liv Morgan

Rating: 1.5/5

Raquel Rodriguez vs Dakota Kai

Dakota Kai vs Raquel Rodriguez was a huge feud in NXT, therefore more respect to their history should have been given here. Losing quickly to Rodriguez meant Kai had her first poor week since her promotion to the main roster.

Winner: Raquel Rodriguez

Rating: 1.5/5

WWE NXT Level Up

Indi Hartwell vs Valentina Feroz

Squash City!

Winner: Indi Hartwell

Rating: 2/5

AEW Rampage - Grand Slam

Jade Cargill vs Diamante

Although Diamante genuinely looked good in this match, there was absolutely no way that Jade Cargill was going to lose here. Thankfully, the action was solid, if not spectacular, leading to a solid and enjoyable match overall.

Winner: Jade Cargill

Rating: 2.5/5

MATCH OF THE WEEK:

Alexa Bliss vs Bayley

This was fun, if not slightly obvious. Nevertheless, it was fun whilst it lasted.

WOMAN OF THE WEEK:

Bayley

Easily the best thing about WWE television at the moment.
