Welcome to another edition of WOMEN'S WRESTLING WEEKLY—a rundown of the events which have transpired in the world of women's professional wrestling over the past several days not just with the Superstars on WWE programming, but with Impact Wrestling's Knockouts, ROH's Women of Honor, and even a glimpse at the women on the independent circuit.
WWE Monday Night Raw
Alexa Bliss vs Asuka
This was more of an angle to get to a stunning attack by Bayley, Dakota Kai, and Iyo Sky. All in all, this wasn't flat out bad.
Winner: No Contest
Rating: 2.5/5
Bianca Belair vs Iyo Sky
A breath of fresh air! It was fantastic to see new faces on Raw, with Iyo Sky one hundred percent looking like she belonged in the ring with Bianca Belair. Although the match ended in a No Contest, it was a highly intriguing match that had a finish which made sense. Great effort from everyone involved here.
Winner: No Contest
Rating: 3.5/5
AEW Dark: Elevation
Julia Hart vs LMK
Squash City!
Winner: Julia Hart
Rating: 2/5
Leila Grey vs JC
Squash City!
Winner: Leila Grey
Rating: 2/5
Athena vs Christina Marie
Squash City!
Winner: Athena
Rating: 2/5
Toni Storm, Willow Nightingale, & Hikaru Shida vs Marina Shafir, Emi Sakura, & Nyla Rose
As women's Trios matches go, this was very by the numbers.
Winner: Toni Storm, Willow Nightingale, & Hikaru Shida
Rating: 2/5
WWE NXT 2.0
Kayden Carter & Katana Chance vs Valentina Feroz & Yulisa Leon vs Tatum Paxley & Ivy Nile vs Toxic Attraction
All four teams looked to have a chance in this match, with Toxic Attraction standing out as the overwhelming favourites for me. That is why I am happy Kayden Carter and Katana Chance won, as it provides a new team with an opportunity to take the NXT Women's Tag Team Championships in a new direction and run with it.
Winner: Kayden Carter & Katana Chance
Rating: 2.5/5
Mandy Rose vs Sarray
Squash City!
Winner: Mandy Rose
Rating: 2/5
Alba Fyre vs Lash Legend
Squash City!
Winner: Alba Fyre
Rating: 2/5
AEW Dark
Willow Nightingale vs Harley Cameron
Squash City!
Winner: Willow Nightingale
Rating: 2/5
Diamante vs Rocky Radley
Squash City!
Winner: Diamante
Rating: 2/5
AEW Wednesday Night Dynamite
Jamie Hayter & Britt Baker vs Toni Storm & Thunder Rosa
This was the very definition of mediocre, which left me with a significant feeling of dread as I had no confidence that Thunder Rosa vs Jamie Hayter at Battle of the Belts III would be any good.
Winner: Jamie Hayter & Britt Baker
Rating: 2.5/5
Impact Wrestling
Deonna Purrazzo vs Rosemary
Despite the best efforts of both women, this match did not get out of second gear.
Winner: Deonna Purrazzo
Rating: 2.5/5
Masha Slamovich vs Gisele Shaw
Squash City!
Winner: Masha Slamovich
Rating: 2/5
WWE NXT UK
Isla Dawn vs Blair Davenport
No-one won here, as this was a piss poor match to end the show.
Winner: No Contest
Rating: 1.5/5
WWE Friday Night SmackDown
Women's Gauntlet Match
There was a real lack of cohesion here, with most of the women involved, namely Aliyah and Shotzi, coming across as really shallow wrestlers. Shayna Baszler winning was at least interesting, but overall, this match was a failure.
Winner: Shayna Baszler
Rating: 2/5
WWE NXT Level Up
Thea Hail vs Arianna Grace
Squash City!
Winner: Arianna Grace
Rating: 1.5/5
AEW Rampage
Madison Rayne vs Leila Grey
Squash City!
Winner: Madison Rayne
Rating: 2/5
AEW Battle of the Belts III
Thunder Rosa vs Jamie Hayter
Whilst not flat out bad, this match justified my concerns that it would be a stinker. Thunder Rosa is trying hard, but her reign as AEW Women's World Champion is quickly running out of steam.
Winner: Thunder Rosa
Rating: 2.5/5
MATCH OF THE WEEK:
Bianca Belair vs Iyo Sky
Simply a strong match to evidence that Triple H is once again focusing on the strengths of WWE's women's division.
WOMEN OF THE WEEK:
Bayley, Dakota Kai, & Iyo Sky
This team is fantastic! They look so dominant and dangerous!
