ROH Death Before Dishonor 2022 Results |
ZERO HOUR PRE-SHOW
Colt Cabana vs. Anthony Henry
RESULT: Colt Cabana won by pinfall.
THOUGHTS: Generic opener match. Nothing to talk about.
The Shinobi Shadow Squad (Cheeseburger and Eli Isom) vs. The Trust Busters (Ari Daivari and Slim J)
RESULT: Trust Busters won by pinfall.
THOUGHTS: Another generic match. These aren't bad, but they're not anything to check on if you missed it.
Prince Nana tells Lexi Nair that he's purchased Tully Blanchard Enterprises.
Tully Blanchard Enterprises's Brian Cage and The Gates of Agony (Jasper Kaun and Toa Liona) vs. Alex Zayne, Blake Christian and Tony Deppen
RESULT: Tully Blanchard Enterprises (or I guess Prince Nana Enterprises?) won by pinfall.
THOUGHTS: This was more of an even contest than I think it should have been, necessarily. Cage and The Gates of Agony are so much bigger. They should have had an easier time.
Allysin Kay vs. Willow Nightingale
RESULT: Willow Nightingale won by pinfall.
THOUGHTS: This proves my theory wrong that Kay would win for being the bigger star. Nightingale is more in-house, so it does make sense for her to win.
MAIN CARD:
ROH World Championship Match: Jonathan Gresham (c) (with Tully Blanchard) vs. Claudio Castagnoli
RESULT: Claudio Castagnoli won the title by pinfall!THOUGHTS: Not as good of a match as I was hoping for, but I'm glad Castagnoli won the belt.
ROH World Six-Man Tag Team Championship Match: The Righteous (c) vs. Dalton Castle and The Boys
RESULT: Dalton Castle and The Boys won the titles by pinfall.
THOUGHTS: I'd like to see more from all these wrestlers before making any judgment call on them, but I'd say this was more interesting than anything on the pre-show.
ROH Pure Championship Match: Wheeler Yuta (c) vs. Daniel Garcia
RESULT: Wheeler Yuta retained by pinfall.THOUGHTS: There were a few moments where this was losing my attention. The style doesn't really entertain me enough for me to look forward to these gimmicks going forward, I guess. It wasn't bad, but it just wasn't speaking to me.
Rush vs. Dragon Lee
RESULT: Rush won by pinfall.THOUGHTS: Yet another match that was perfectly fine as far as athletic maneuvers go, but had nothing that I could sink my teeth into.
ROH Women's World Championship Match: Mercedes Martinez (c) vs. Serena Deeb
RESULT: Mercedes Martinez retained by submission.
THOUGHTS: Disappointingly boring. This fell so flat for me. Don't hate me; remember, we all have our own opinions. But my energy is going down further and further for this event and watching Deeb hold Martinez in submissions was certainly not the way to boost my adrenaline.
ROH World Television Championship Match: Samoa Joe (c) vs. Jay Lethal (with Sonjay Dutt and Satnam Singh)
RESULT: Samoa Joe retained by submission.
THOUGHTS: Big fan of Joe, so I'm cool with it. I think I would have booked Lethal to win, but that's okay if TK has a different plan for these guys going forward. The match itself was one of the better ones of the night, but by this point, I've mostly checked out, if I'm being honest.
ROH World Tag Team Championship 2-out-of-3 Falls Match: FTR (Cash Wheeler and Dax Harwood) (c) vs. The Briscoe Brothers (Jay Briscoe and Mark Briscoe)
RESULT: FTR retained with a 2-1 decision.
THOUGHTS: No question, the best match of the night. Nothing else came remotely close.
