Posted by Dallas Allsopp Monday, May 23, 2022

Welcome to another edition of WOMEN'S WRESTLING WEEKLY—a rundown of the events which have transpired in the world of women's professional wrestling over the past several days not just with the Superstars on WWE programming, but with Impact Wrestling's Knockouts, ROH's Women of Honor, and even a glimpse at the women on the independent circuit.

WWE Monday Night Raw

Alexa Bliss vs Sonya Deville

Sonya Deville sold the threat of Alexa Bliss well, but it still did not feel effective. Bliss should be working a much stronger programme than this.

Winner: Alexa Bliss

Rating: 2/5

Asuka vs Becky Lynch

Considering this should have been a Six Pack challenge, it wasn't a bad match. The issue is that Sasha Banks and Naomi walking out on Raw is a heavy cloud over this contest. It was fun, but it would have been so much better with four more competitors.

Winner: Asuka

Rating: 3/5

AEW Dark: Elevation

Emi Sakura & Nyla Rose vs Anna Jay & Yuka Sakazaki

Very much more of the same for Elevation, with another pointless tag team match for Anna Jay, who deserves much better than this.

Winner: Anna Jay & Yuka Sakazaki

Rating: 2/5

Mercedes Martinez vs Trish Adora

This was for the ROH Women's Championship, but Mercedes Martinez successfully retaining was never in doubt. Trish Adora tried, but she couldn't really impose herself.

Winner: Mercedes Martinez

Rating: 2.5/5

WWE NXT 2.0

Lash Legend vs Tatum Paxley

Squash City!

Winner: Lash Legend

Rating: 2/5

Roxanne Perez vs Kiana James

Squash City!

Winner: Roxanne Perez

Rating: 2/5

AEW Dark

Layna Lennox vs Marina Shafir

Squash City!

Winner: Marina Shafir

Rating: 2/5

Devlyn Macabre vs Emi Sakura

Squash City!

Winner: Emi Sakura

Rating: 2/5

Skye Blue vs Amber Nova

Squash City!

Winner: Skye Blue

Rating: 2/5

AEW Wednesday Night Dynamite

Britt Baker vs Maki Itoh

Squash City! Maki Itoh was a terrible Joker reveal.

Winner: Britt Baker

Rating: 2/5

Impact Wrestling

Taya Valkyrie, Jordynne Grace, & Mia Yim vs Tasha Steelz, Savanah Evans, & Deonna Purrazzo

This was a fine match, with all six women looking like they had fun. Mia Yim looked strong here, and I cannot wait to see how she progresses in Impact Wrestling.

Winner: Taya Valkyrie, Jordynne Grace, & Mia Yim

Rating: 3/5

Masha Slamovich vs Shawna Reed

Squash City!

Winner: Masha Slamovich

Rating: 2/5

WWE NXT UK

Xia Brookside & Eliza Alexander vs Angel Hayze & Amale

Frankly disappointing, but I do adore the cocky shit that Xia Brookside is turning into.

Winner: Xia Brookside & Eliza Alexander

Rating: 2/5

WWE Friday Night SmackDown

Raquel Rodriguez vs Shotzi

Squash City!

Winner: Raquel Rodriguez

Rating: 2/5

WWE NXT Level Up

Ivy Nile vs Yulisa Leon

Squash City!

Winner: Ivy Nile

Rating: 2/5

AEW Rampage

Kris Statlander vs Red Velvet

Red Velvet looked cracking in defeat, and perhaps she should have won considering she is alligned with Jade Cargill. Nevertheless, both women worked hard here.

Winner: Kris Statlander

Rating: 2.5/5

MATCH OF THE WEEK:

Taya Valkyrie, Jordynne Grace, & Mia Yim vs Tasha Steelz, Savanah Evans, & Deonna Purrazzo

A return to form for the Knockout's division!

WOMEN OF THE WEEK:

Naomi & Sasha Banks

I stand with Sasha Banks and Naomi. They know their worth, and they are doing the right thing by standing up for what they believe in. I do truly hope there is a positive resolution at the end of the tunnel for everyone involved.
