WWE WrestleMania 2023 Results |
NIGHT 1 - APRIL 1:
United States Championship Match: Austin Theory (c) vs. John Cena
RESULT: Austin Theory retained by pinfall.
THOUGHTS: He tapped out while the referee was down and nailed Cena with a low-blow, but he got the win nevertheless. It isn't the strongest win, but it's a win. Solid enough opener.
Men's WrestleMania Showcase Fatal 4-Way Tag Team Match: Alpha
Academy vs. Braun Strowman and Ricochet vs. The Street Profits vs. The
Viking Raiders
RESULT: The Street Profits won by pinfall (Angelo Dawkins pinned Ricochet)
THOUGHTS: This was great! So much energy and fun from start to finish.
Logan Paul vs. Seth Rollins
RESULT: Seth Rollins won by pinfall.
THOUGHTS: Another damn good match. Having KSI as the Prime energy drink mascot for a table spot was a great touch that will definitely get WWE quite a good amount of media coverage.
Six-Woman Tag Team Match: Becky Lynch, Lita and Trish Stratus vs. Damage CTRL (Bayley, Dakota Kai and Iyo Sky)
RESULT: Becky Lynch, Lita and Trish Stratus won by pinfall (Becky pinned Bayley)
THOUGHTS: This was about as good as you could hope, all things considered.
Dominik Mysterio vs. Rey Mysterio
RESULT: Rey Mysterio won by pinfall.THOUGHTS: Great segment all around, with some good interference stuff (like Bad Bunny stopping Dominik from using a steel chain, and the stuff with Angie and Aalyah). We even got a random Cinnamon Toast Crunch mascot ringside looking all crazy. Thumbs up for sure.
SmackDown Women's Championship Match: Charlotte Flair (c) vs. Rhea Ripley
RESULT: Rhea Ripley won the title by pinfall!
THOUGHTS: Fantastic match with the right outcome, and a clean win, too. That's exactly what it needed to be.
Snoop Dogg brought up how The Miz doesn't have a match. The Miz claimed to have an open challenge, and out comes Pat McAfee!
Pat McAfee vs. The Miz
RESULT: Pat McAfee won by pinfall.
THOUGHTS: For an impromptu thing out of nowhere, I'm down for it. Not my favorite part of the night, but I like McAfee and this will get people talking, so I see no harm in it like others are complaining about.
WWE Tag Team Championship Match: The Usos vs. Kevin Owens and Sami Zayn
RESULT: Kevin Owens and Sami Zayn are your new champions by pinfall!! (Zayn pinned Jey)
THOUGHTS: Awesome. I'm so glad this was the main event and the right people won. This was great.

NIGHT 2 - APRIL 2:
Brock Lesnar vs. Omos
RESULT: Brock Lesnar won by pinfall.
THOUGHTS: Exactly what we all expected it to be.
Women's WrestleMania Showcase Fatal 4-Way Tag Team Match: Chelsea Green and Sonya Deville vs. Liv Morgan and Raquel Rodriguez vs. Natalya and Shotzi vs. Ronda Rousey and Shayna Baszler
RESULT: Ronda Rousey and Shayna Baszler won by submission.
THOUGHTS: This was garbage even before the finish, which was the only time the injured Ronda and Shayna stepped in for a split second. Botches and poor timing. They didn't even give Shotzi her tank for the entrance. What a deflating, poor segment, especially compared to how great the men's showcase was yesterday.
Intercontinental Championship Triple Threat Match: Gunther (c) vs. Drew McIntyre vs. Sheamus
RESULT: Gunther retained the title by pinfall
THOUGHTS: Awesome match. Absolutely awesome. They kicked so much ass.
Raw Women's Championship Match: Bianca Belair (c) vs. Asuka
RESULT: Bianca Belair retained by pinfall
THOUGHTS: To no surprise, they had a very good match. I still wish the feud would have had SOMETHING to it for these past 4 months, instead of just having WWE say "It doesn't matter what we do because they'll have a good match at Mania." Thumbs up for this segment, though.
The Miz and Snoop Dogg are out to talk about the attendance again. The Miz complains about Snoop putting him in a match out of nowhere. Well, he's doing it again. And his opponent is....Shane McMahon?!?
Shane McMahon vs. The Miz
Hell in a Cell Match: Edge vs. Finn Balor
THOUGHTS: Better than I had expected, but it was super hindered by stopping midway through for a few minutes so the medics could patch up Balor's face and stop him from bleeding. The entrances weren't as cool as they could have been, either.
Undisputed WWE Universal Championship Match: Roman Reigns (c) vs. Cody Rhodes
RESULT: Roman Reigns retains by pinfall.
THOUGHTS: Seriously? SERIOUSLY? The match was great until that finish, and now, they've just sealed the deal. Screw this event.
