WWE Clash at the Castle 2022 Results |
Kickoff Six-Man Tag Team Match: Madcap Moss and The Street Profits vs. Austin Theory and Alpha Academy
THOUGHTS: Totally random match with no super interesting build, but sure. For a kickoff thing just meant to whet the audience's appetites, it was fine. There were better ideas they could have come up with.
Six-Woman Tag Team Match: Bianca Belair, Alexa Bliss and Asuka vs. Bayley, Dakota Kai and Iyo Sky
RESULT: Bayley, Dakota Kai and Iyo Sky won by pinfall (Bayley pinned Bianca Belair)
THOUGHTS: This was the best outcome. Bayley now has every right to challenge Bianca Belair for the Raw Women's Championship. The match itself was a little sloppy at times and a bit generic. I still maintain this should've been more on Raw than on a pay-per-view.
Intercontinental Championship Match: Gunther (c) vs. Sheamus
THOUGHTS: Not on the level of Gunther against Ilja Dragunov, but I still enjoyed it. Sheamus is walking out of this match more red than white after all those chops.
SmackDown Women's Championship Match: Liv Morgan (c) vs. Shayna Baszler
RESULT: Liv Morgan retained by pinfall
THOUGHTS: Fine enough. This helps boost Morgan's credibility, for sure. The finish was weak, but whatever.
Tag Team Match: Edge and Rey Mysterio vs. The Judgment Day (Damian Priest and Finn Balor)
THOUGHTS: The much more interesting thing here is that Dominik Mysterio turned heel on Edge and Rey afterward. That's far more important than a generic tag team match that was meaningless and forgettable, minus Edge doing a 619.
Seth Rollins vs. Matt Riddle
RESULT: Seth Rollins won by pinfall.
THOUGHTS: Rock solid match with, in my mind, the right outcome. Let's extend this feud into a gimmick match at Extreme Rules and give Riddle the win there.
Unified WWE Universal Championship Match: Roman Reigns (c) vs. Drew McIntyre
RESULT: Roman Reigns retained by pinfall
THOUGHTS: Very good match, but I'm sure plenty people will be upset at the outcome. Solo Sikoa's interference was a highlight, as was Tyson Fury knocking out Austin Theory to block the Money in the Bank cash-in.
