The following are my predictions for the 2022 WWE NXT Stand & Deliver PPV. Check back for NXT Stand & Deliver 2022 results and review coverage here when the time comes.
WWE NXT Stand & Deliver 2022 Spoilers |
NXT Championship Match: Dolph Ziggler (c) vs. Bron Breakker
Obviously, this is two-fold. Either the whole point of Breakker dropping the belt was to give a few weeks of a main roster talent from Raw to NXT to spice things up and set up Breakker for a big win at a bigger stage, or it was because Breakker is going to the main roster. I'm more inclined to believe the former.
Prediction: Bron Breakker regains the title.
NXT Women's Championship Fatal 4-Way Match: Mandy Rose (c) vs. Cora Jade vs. Io Shirai vs. Kay Lee Ray
While I'm more interested in this now that it isn't just Cora Jade against Mandy Rose, I still don't think this is a strong title match. Basically, they have no better opponent for Rose at the moment, so they booked this under a "quantity over quality" setup. Rose against anyone on the roster wouldn't mean anything, but these four names combined is a bigger deal.
That ultimately just brings about one question. Is this a way to take the belt off Rose without her being pinned so they can drag that out a while longer, give Rose a rematch and get another month out of this, or is this how Rose retains by pinning one of those three so no one person looks particularly weak?
NXT North American Championship Ladder Match: Carmelo Hayes (c) vs. Santos Escobar vs. Grayson Waller vs. Solo Sikoa vs. Cameron Grimes
Cameron Grimes has a good shot at winning this title for the sympathy story. Nobody else stands out to me as potentially dethroning Hayes. However, Hayes is an easy pick to retain, too. WWE clearly values him highly and in those scenarios, it is never odd for a champion to keep their title. This could be one of those nights where multiple titles change hands
Tommaso Ciampa vs. Tony D'Angelo
This isn't what I would have imagined would be Ciampa's swan song in NXT. There are a lot of other things that would have been more fitting. But I'm willing to give it a shot. If it's just a match, then hopefully, it'll be a good one.
NXT Tag Team Championship Triple Threat Match: Imperium (c) vs. The Creed Brothers vs. MSK
Cold feet on just going with The Creed Brothers as babyfaces or tweeners against heel Imperium, and you've shoehorned MSK in there as the true babyfaces? The match should be good, but I'm disappointed they didn't just make this the two teams, or do something with the Dusty Rhodes Tag Team Classic to better set this up. Simply having The Creed Brothers get attacked was a lazy roundabout way to book it.
GUNTHER vs. LA Knight
Six matches, eh? Okay. It's just a midcard feud, but at least it gets both of these guys on a pay-per-view during WrestleMania Weekend. That's neat. This storyline is pretty simple, and I think the most logical scenario would be GUNTHER winning so he can be the next challenger in line to face Bron Breakker.
NXT Women's Tag Team Championship Match: Toxic Attraction (c) vs. Raquel Gonzalez and Dakota Kai
So...Dakota Kai and Wendy Choo come up short in the Dusty Rhodes Tag Team Classic. Io Shirai and Kay Lee Ray win it, but somehow manage to trade that tag team title opportunity for two spots in the NXT Women's Championship match instead. Then, Wendy Choo leaves her blanket and pillow behind on the floor, for whatever reason, and after Dakota Kai attacks Toxic Attraction, she hugs it out with Raquel Gonzalez, and suddenly, those two are in contention for the titles? Why not Choo and Kai? What was that all about? Huh? The logic in WWE sometimes is astonishing. The answer is "Fuck you, we want the actual friends together, so just go with it" but that's such a poor excuse for bad storytelling. I hope Gonzalez and Kai lose this and go to the main roster. They're needed on Raw and SmackDown. However, I'm 50/50 on this. Since I think some other belts could change hands, I'll play it safe with the champions retaining on this one.
