Welcome to another edition of Battle of the Brands from Smark Out Moment, where we compare this week's episodes of Raw and SmackDown and determine which one of the two was the better show.
WWE Monday Night Raw - March 14, 2022 - VyStar Veterans Memorial Arena in Jacksonville, Florida
WWE Friday Night SmackDown - March 18, 2022 - Spectrum Center in Charlotte, North Carolina
BATTLE OF THE BRANDS:
RAW vs. SMACKDOWN
FACTOR 1: MATCHES
Raw = Kevin Owens vs Seth Rollins was a television masterpiece, ending a show that featured a number of decent encounters.
SmackDown = No single match was impressive this week, which is one thing SmackDown had in it's favour over the past few weeks. It certainly feels as though WrestleMania apathy has set in, which was no more evident than in the women's tag team match.
WINNER: Raw
FACTOR 2: PROMOS
Raw = Edge once again knocked his promo out of the park!
SmackDown = Charlotte Flair's show ending promo was simply awful, providing one more example of how terrible her feud with Ronda Rousey is.
WINNER: Raw
FACTOR 3: STORYLINES
Raw = Raw was much better at setting up and advancing storylines for WrestleMania this week, especially in developing their side of the undercard for the event.
SmackDown = Brock Lesnar vs Roman Reigns would have benefited from more time and attention, but Charlotte Flair vs Ronda Rousey is really dragging the show down at the moment.
WINNER: Raw
FACTOR 4: SCHEDULING / PACING
Raw = Raw was a more than satisfying watch this week - as it has been for quite a while now.
SmackDown = The show has a problem at the moment with pacing, especially when it comes to starting and ending a show.
WINNER: Raw
EXTRA CREDIT BONUS ROUND!!!
Raw gains points for Edge's dominating presence on the show.
Raw also gains points for putting on such a fantastic main event so close to WrestleMania.
Raw loses points for failing to give me much to care about Omos.
SmackDown gains points for Brock Lesnar being rip roaring fun again.
SmackDown loses points for ending the show with yet another shit angle between Ronda Rousey and Charlotte Flair.
POINT ADJUSTMENTS: Raw (+2 / -1) / SmackDown (+1 / -1)
THIS WEEK'S WINNER = Raw
With a score of 5 to 0, Raw decimates SmackDown once more to win this week's Battle of the Brands. SmackDown was again a huge mess, whilst Raw was more than enjoyable.
That's my pick for the better show of the week, but how do YOU stand?
Which was better, Raw or SmackDown?
