WWE Elimination Chamber 2022 Results

The Miz vs. Rey Mysterio

RESULT: Rey Mysterio won by pinfall.
THOUGHTS: Decent opening match for something that didn't matter in the slightest bit. I hate to write it off as "well, it's a kickoff match, so who cares? This was good enough" because the kickoff should still be better. No excuses to not improve. But...well...it was a kickoff match, so who cares? It was good enough.

Universal Championship Match: Roman Reigns (c) vs. Goldberg

RESULT: Roman Reigns retained by submission.
THOUGHTS: So Reigns didn't even do a spear? What? That was trash, as expected. If you keep acting like these are going to be worthwhile matches to care about, WWE is going to keep giving them to you. It's on you, fans. Hold the company accountable.

Raw Women's Championship No. 1 Contender's Elimination Chamber Match: Bianca Belair vs. Doudrop vs. Liv Morgan vs. Nikki A.S.H. vs. Rhea Ripley vs. Alexa Bliss

Starting the match are Liv Morgan and Nikki A.S.H. (despite how Alexa Bliss came out last...weird)
Entering next is Doudrop.
Entering next is Rhea Ripley.
Nikki A.S.H. is eliminated by Rhea Ripley (pinfall).
After that is Alexa Bliss.
Doudrop is eliminated by Liv Morgan (pinfall).
Final entrant is Bianca Belair.
Morgan is eliminated by Bliss (pinfall)
Ripley is eliminated by Belair (pinfall)
Bliss is eliminated by Belair (pinfall)

RESULT: Bianca Belair won.
THOUGHTS: It did its job. These women are collectively better than what this ultimately was, but I enjoyed it enough for it being something that was heading in a clear direction and very predictable just to set up a rematch that we've already seen several times in the past few months. Anyway, good on the women for being able to perform and good on the costume department for creating good outfits for them, rather than just slapping t-shirts on generic spandex and calling it a day.

Charlotte Flair and Sonya Deville vs. Ronda Rousey and Naomi

RESULT: Ronda Rousey and Naomi won by submission.
THOUGHTS: Sloppy. Rousey's arm wasn't remotely tied behind her back and all parties involved still had a messy match with things looking choreographed and slow. It doesn't help that I have no interest in seeing Rousey against Flair for a third time and I'm even less interested now than I was 20 minutes ago.

Falls Count Anywhere Match: Drew McIntyre vs. Madcap Moss

RESULT: Drew McIntyre won by pinfall.
THOUGHTS: I hope Moss is okay after landing on his head here. That's my biggest takeaway.

Raw Women's Championship Match: Becky Lynch (c) vs. Lita

RESULT: Becky Lynch retained by pinfall.
THOUGHTS: Lita stans and women's division obsessives will talk about this being one of the greatest comeback matches. I thought Lita did fine enough for someone with over a dozen years of ring rust, but I still didn't dig the match. "Oh my God, Tony, you don't like anything, do you?" I like things I think are good. Do you really think if this wasn't Lita and it was Becky against anyone on the regular roster that you'd give it some 8 out of 10? Or are you grading on a curve? Be honest. Lita did better than Goldberg.

SmackDown Tag Team Championship Match: The Usos (c) vs. The Viking Raiders

RESULT: This match didn't happen. The Usos barely attacked The Viking Raiders and they just figured that's good enough. Called the match off. Ran another video package instead, since half this event has to be recap footage.

Elimination Chamber Match for the WWE Championship: Bobby Lashley (c) vs. Brock Lesnar vs. Seth Rollins vs. Austin Theory vs. AJ Styles vs. Riddle

Starting off the match are Seth Rollins and Austin Theory, with them once again doing the thing where Brock Lesnar comes out last and then enters a pod.
Pod #1 is Riddle.
Pod #2 is AJ Styles. Lashley is being taken out of the match.
Pod #3 is supposed to be Lashley, but he doesn't come out, naturally. Instead, Lesnar decides to break out of his pod.
Seth Rollins is eliminated by Brock Lesnar (pinfall)
Commentary just says Lashley is out of the match under concussion protocol.
Riddle is eliminated by Brock Lesnar (pinfall)
AJ Styles is eliminated by Brock Lesnar (pinfall).
Austin Theory is eliminated by Brock Lesnar (pinfall)

RESULT: Brock Lesnar won the title.
THOUGHTS: HA. Big swerves and interesting things, right? They take Lashley out of the match to avoid having him lose, and they go with the predictable "Lesnar wins again" thing, meaning the past month was pretty much all pointless and this is all eggs in one basket with Lesnar/Reigns. Fuck's sake.
