WWE WrestleMania Backlash 2022 Spoilers |
SmackDown Women's Championship I Quit Match: Charlotte Flair (c) vs. Ronda Rousey
My guess is they didn't have the title change at WrestleMania because they figured "we already have enough belts changing, so let's milk this and stretch it out until Hell in a Cell and just have the title change next month where nothing else is going to happen."
Rousey isn't saying "I quit." Her whole persona is that she's The Baddest Woman on the Planet. The mystique is gone once she taps out to Flair. On the other hand, Flair can tap out and still just get a rematch for Hell in a Cell by being a typical heel.
PREDICTION: Ronda Rousey wins the title.
Cody Rhodes vs. Seth Rollins
WrestleMania Backlash should essentially be renamed WrestleMania Rematch. They're just doing this again for the sake of milking something and not doing more work. Their last match was good, so I'm sure this will be, too, but there isn't much of a hook to make it intriguing.
PREDICTION: Cody Rhodes wins.AJ Styles vs. Edge
I figured this feud would continue into Hell in a Cell. With that in mind, and knowing now that Damian Priest is banned from ringside, Styles should get the win to make them 1-1. They could do the whole "that cage will keep Priest out of the match" angle and it still won't prevent Edge from getting some assistance, wherein Edge will win that match and the overall feud.
PREDICTION: AJ Styles wins.
Six-Man Tag Team Match: Drew McIntyre and RK-Bro vs. The Bloodline (Roman Reigns and The Usos)
So...what? Why did they do the title unification thing just to throw it away with a six-man tag? Are they quite literally trying to drag this out a whole extra month and will do The Usos against RK-Bro and McIntyre vs. Reigns at the next event and just said "Screw it. Backlash is a worthless event" or something? Yeeeeeeesh. Six talented Superstars, and the match is utterly meaningless. If the belts were on the line, that would be one thing, but they didn't say that.
Happy Corbin vs. Madcap Moss
This was the natural progression of things. I'm about 50/50 on the winner, as it seems like Moss should win to fully exorcise Corbin from his life, but with WWE's track record of wanting to stretch things out as long as possible, I can fully imagine a scenario where Corbin wins just to have a rematch later. Then again, there's nothing saying Moss can't beat Corbin and get attacked by Corbin just to set up a rematch, anyway.
PREDICTION: Madcap Moss wins.Bobby Lashley vs. Omos
Another rematch. Nothing to talk about. Lashley won the previous match, so he'll lose this one.
More matches will be announced. Stay tuned for updates!
PREDICTED MATCHES (as of 5/1/2022)
- I'd imagine Liv Morgan vs. Rhea Ripley will be a Raw feud and not on this event
- Sasha Banks and Naomi against Natalya and Shayna Baszler could happen if that isn't kept to just that SmackDown match. I could see that ending in some bullshit that leads to them running it back two days later.
This page will be altered on a regular basis to reflect changes to the show including any new matches added to the lineup, adjustments to the card, revised predictions and any other information about this event. Stay tuned for the latest updates!
