AEW Revolution 2022 Spoilers |
AEW World Championship Match: "Hangman" Adam Page (c) vs. Adam Cole
I'm excited to see this match. These two have history together and are both great talents. It's something fresh and I'm expecting Cole to come up short, which will mean Page will get a rather big win to help add to his title run's legitimacy.
PREDICTION: Adam Page retains.
Face of the Revolution Ladder Match: Christian Cage vs. Keith Lee vs. Orange Cassidy vs. Powerhouse Hobbs vs. Ricky Starks vs. Wardlow
The TNT Championship has a lot more leeway for its contenders than the world title. Since it is effectively a midcard belt, anyone can challenge for it and it would be somewhat realistic, as they're either worthy opponents or someone the champion can beat to bolster their reign.
Orange Cassidy is probably here to get him on the card. I'm cool with that. He's awesome. But I don't think he's winning, unless this is just to have a one-off match and call it a day. There better options to take that spot. The same goes for Christian Cage, essentially.
Ricky Starks is still holding the FTW Championship. If he didn't have that belt, I would consider him the favorite and someone who has a strong chance to beat Guevara. As long as he holds that other title, though, let's put that on hold. He also has this feud budding with Keith Lee. Since that's the case, I would rule out Lee (who would look weak losing to Guevara, in my mind) and even Powerhouse Hobbs, who should be in the Lee vs. Team Taz feud, instead. There's a chance Hobbs could win this for a one-off with Guevara while Starks is with Lee, but that's cross-polinating too much.
MJF said Wardlow wouldn't have to relinquish the TNT Championship if he won it. I think we could see a scenario where Wardlow wins this, beats Sammy Guevara and MJF just changes his mind and gets the title anyway.
Boy, would it make sense if Cesaro (or Claudio Castagnoli) grabbed that brass ring...
PREDICTION: Wardlow wins.
Dog Collar Match: CM Punk vs. MJF
This is something different, that's for sure. I don't have a ton of faith that this gimmick lends itself to the best possible match, but I trust that these two at least have theories on how to pull it off. My guess is Punk is there to have a good set of feuds with people and is willing to really give MJF some momentum, so he'll lose again. But I'm just as convinced Punk gets the win to end this feud and that's that. Since it's not easily predictable, that makes it significantly better.
PREDICTION: 60/40 CM Punk wins.
Three-Way Tag Team Match for the AEW World Tag Team Championship: Jurassic Express (c) vs. reDRagon vs. The Young Bucks
Here's what I'm thinking (ie, the reason you clicked on this...duh): It doesn't make much sense, in my mind, for either of the challengers to win the titles and to take things from there. More so, the disagreements between reDRagon and The Young Bucks should lead to Jurassic Express retaining and that being a point of contention within the two feuding friend groups. It can be a case of "Why didn't you just let me win if you're my friend?" in a sense. Then, down the line when Kenny Omega is able to return, we can go with the official split and have Adam Cole, Kyle O'Reilly and Bobby Fish against Kenny Omega, Matt Jackson and Nick Jackson. Preferably, that is for a new Trios Tag Team Championship, and it happens at Double or Nothing. Meanwhile, Luchasaurus and Jungle Boy can continue to be the regular tag team champions and move on to the next challengers.
PREDICTION: Jurassic Express retains.
AEW Women's World Championship Match: Dr. Britt Baker, D.M.D. (c) vs. Thunder Rosa
I had thought all this time that Thunder Rosa was the clear favorite to dethrone Baker. Now, after not having enough of a setup (in my mind, at least) to put the momentum in her corner, I'm wondering if there's another plan in place and Rosa is just a big hurdle for Baker to overcome. Their Lights Out match was awesome, so I'm definitely interested in both this match itself and its outcome.
PREDICTION: Right now, I'm thinking Baker retains.
Eddie Kingston vs. Chris Jericho
The pitch here is essentially that Jericho thinks Kingston has a fear of success, while Kingston is just ready to throw hands. They just don't see eye-to-eye and don't like each other, but could potentially respect each other after the fight, and I like it. This is simple, but effective. Let's have Kingston prove he had the match won, only for Jericho to cheat and win.
PREDICTION: Chris Jericho wins.
Tornado Trios Tag Team Match: The Andrade-Hardy Family Office (Andrade El Idolo, Matt Hardy and Isiah Kassidy) vs. Darby Allin, Sammy Guevara and Sting
With Jeff Hardy coming to AEW soon, Matt Hardy has to get kicked out of The Andrade-Hardy Family Office. Hopefully, then, it can be renamed to something better and the group can undergo some other changes, as it's never made much sense (outside of when it was just Hardy and Private Party). This has to be a losing affair to help foster that outcome.
Bryan Danielson vs. Jon Moxley
This will rock. Nuff said.
PREDICTION: 51/49 Bryan Danielson wins.AEW TBS Championship Match: Jade Cargill (c) vs. Tay Conti
I'm expecting this to be as run-of-the-mill as Cargill's matches are, where it'll be kept relatively short and she'll win. In the long run, that's perfectly okay. She's being built up to be something bigger than to just drop the belt to Conti so fast like this, and Conti can certainly take the loss and bounce back.
Buy In - Hook vs. QT Marshall
It doesn't matter what I say, so long as I sing it with inflection.
Buy In - Kris Statlander vs. Leyla Hirsch
Either it's a meaningless match to give Hirsch a victory and nothing more, or it's a means to start giving momentum to Statlander so she can challenge Cargill once Conti fails to win the title. I'm hoping the latter, but I'm honestly not invested enough to care.
Buy In - The House of Black (Malakai Black, Brody King and Buddy Matthews) vs. Death Triangle (Pac and Penta Oscuro) and Erick Redbeard
How many matches are on the card?! Is this going to be 8 hours long? The addition of Erick Redbeard is very strange. I don't quite get it, nor did I see it coming. I'm kind of throwing up my hands on the idea that I'm missing something with this.
