AEW Full Gear 2022 Spoilers |
AEW World Championship Match: Jon Moxley (c) vs. MJF
If it was just going to be another "announce the match in advance" scenario, why bother playing around with the casino chip being cashed in like the Money in the Bank contract? That seems odd.
But hey, this is the most logical match they could possible do given all the chaos that has surrounded the AEW world title this year. 2022 has been a cursed year for that belt. Hopefully, nothing bad happens here or coming out of this to keep that going.
I want to see MJF as champion, but I'm not sure this will be the best method to pull that off. Part of me thinks he should lose, because it would be too obvious if he walked out with the title, and that there might be more interest in what happens after he comes up short rather than if he were to win the belt and just revert back to what we've seen already. Maybe not. Maybe it's as cut and dry as putting the title on the top guy and not overthinking it.
PREDICTION: MJF wins the title.
AEW World Tag Team Championship Match: The Acclaimed (c) vs. Swerve in Our Glory
Remember when Tony Khan made a big stink about how you're not going to see the same rematch on repeat with feuds that stretch out? How many matches have The Acclaimed had with Keith Lee and Swerve Strickland at this point? Talk about milking this. Jeez.
I'm past it. The Acclaimed have the titles and they shouldn't drop them. There's no need to revisit this feud anymore. This should be a new team fighting Max Caster and Anthony Bowens.
PREDICTION: The Acclaimed retain.
AEW World Championship Eliminator Tournament Final: TBD vs. TBD
As I'm adding this, all we know is that Dante Martin fights Ethan Page in the first round. No one else on the bracket has been established. Therefore, there's almost no way of knowing what the options are, especially since it could be Moxley or MJF holding the belt.
PREDICTION: n/a until there are more updates.
AEW Interim Women's World Championship Match: Toni Storm (c) vs. Jamie Hayter
Oh. My. God. ENOUGH OF THIS. How many times do I have to keep talking about the same four people fighting each other? Jamie Hayter and Britt Baker have gone up against Toni Storm, Thunder Rosa and now, throw Hikaru Shida in there a few times, too, for what feels like 6 months. MOVE ON. DO SOMETHING ELSE.
ROH World Championship Four-Way Match: Chris Jericho (c) vs. Bryan Danielson vs. Claudio Castagnoli vs. Sammy Guevara
On paper, of course this could be a great match. Look at the amazing competitors involved. But I'm curious why this is a four-way. Jericho and Guevara shouldn't have any tension between them, nor should Danielson and Castagnoli. Isn't that going to throw off the whole dynamic of the match?
AEW TBS Championship Match: Jade Cargill (c) vs. Nyla Rose
Just make it quick.
Dr. Britt Baker, D.M.D. vs. Saraya
Good lord. I hope Saraya is actually healthy enough to wrestle, and not that she's doing this recklessly.
This feud has been awful, and I don't think the match is going to be good, particularly as I'll be nervous the whole time that she'll suffer a worse injury.
Darby Allin and Sting vs. Jay Lethal and Jeff Jarrett
Ehhhhh. On paper, sure. You've got some big names here and a lot of talent. But this has felt so out of left field for me that I'm finding a hard time sinking my teeth into it. To be honest, it's mostly because of the Allin and Sting element of it than anything else. I think they've gone past their expiration date. But maybe this will be a fun segment and I'll forget all about it.
As far as the winners are concerned, since Jeff Jarrett is brand new to the scene, and Allin's already said he should go his separate way from Sting, maybe the babyfaces need to lose to serve the bigger picture.
Steel Cage Match: Jungle Boy vs. Luchasaurus
The endgame here is Jungle Boy against Christian Cage. Jungle Boy has to win this. I'm likely to enjoy this match more than a good number of other ones on this card, so I'm down for it, even though I think it could have happened on Dynamite or Rampage. But adding the steel cage to it does bump it up a level; I'll give them that.
PREDICTION: Jungle Boy wins.
AEW TNT Championship Three-way Match: Wardlow (c) vs. Powerhouse Hobbs vs. Samoa Joe
Three of the biggest guys in AEW are going to slap meat, as Big E would say. It makes sense. I think they could have milked this for two singles matches, rather than a three-way. But since Joe's title isn't on the line, and Hobbs is here, I think we could see Wardlow retaining by proxy of pinning Hobbs, to set up a future title-for-title match against Joe at Final Battle, maybe.
AEW World Trios Tag Team Championship Match: Death Triangle (c) vs. The Elite
Everyone is assuming The Elite are just winning these titles back. Rationally, I think that is probably what is going to happen, too. But there's this voice in me that is saying "that's too obvious" and "won't it just reflect poorly on them to book themselves to return and get their titles back?"
That voice is loud enough that I'm actually thinking Death Triangle will retain, if not just for the surprise.
This page will be altered on a regular basis to reflect changes to the show including any new matches added to the lineup, adjustments to the card, revised predictions and any other information about this event. Stay tuned for the latest updates!
