Welcome to another edition of WOMEN'S WRESTLING WEEKLY—a rundown of the events which have transpired in the world of women's professional wrestling over the past several days not just with the Superstars on WWE programming, but with Impact Wrestling's Knockouts, ROH's Women of Honor, and even a glimpse at the women on the independent circuit.
WWE Monday Night Raw
Liv Morgan vs Rhea Ripley vs Bianca Belair vs Carmella vs Zelina Vega
The winner of this contest would be declared the number one contender to Becky Lynch's Raw Women's Championship. The match action itself wasn't amazing, but it at least allowed Bianca Belair and Liv Morgan to shine. Morgan stole the victory, but she looked great in doing so.
Winner: Liv Morgan
Rating: 2/5
AEW Dark: Elevation
Riho vs Tootie Lynn
Squash City!
Winner: Riho
Rating: 2/5
Emi Sakura & Nyla Rose vs Ryo Mizunami & Ruby Soho
This was a standard women's tag team match that has featured on Dark and Elevation recently. Whilst not bad, it could have been the scene for some higher impact action.
Winner: Ryo Mizunami & Ruby Soho
Rating: 2.5/5
WWE NXT 2.0
Toxic Attraction vs Kacy Catanzaro, Kayden Carter, & Io Shirai
Whilst not a great match, it was a superb vehicle to show Toxic Attraction are a huge part of NXT 2.0 going forward.
Winner: Toxic Attraction
Rating: 2.5/5
Kay Lee Ray vs Sarray
Squash City!
Winner: Kay Lee Ray
Rating: 2/5
Elektra Lopez vs Erica Yan
Squash City!
Winner: Elektra Lopez
Rating: 2/5
AEW Dark
Heidi Howitzer vs Riho
Squash City!
Winner: Riho
Rating: 2/5
Thunder Rosa, Ryo Mizunami, & Kris Statlander vs Emi Sakura, Jamie Hayter, & Rebel
Again, another standard Dark tag team match.
Winner: Thunder Rosa, Ryo Mizunami, & Kris Statlander
Rating: 2.5/5
Nyla Rose vs Tootie Lynn
Squash City!
Winner: Nyla Rose
Rating: 2/5
Miranda Gordy vs Tay Conti
Squash City!
Winner: Tay Conti
Rating: 2/5
AEW Wednesday Night Dynamite
Tay Conti, Anna Jay, & Thunder Rosa vs Rebel, Jamie Hayter, & Britt Baker
The action here disappointed, as it felt like everyone was struggling to get out of second gear. It was positive, however, that Tay Conti was presented as a credible threat to Britt Baker for Full Gear.
Winner: Tay Conti, Anna Jay, & Thunder Rosa
Rating: 2.5/5
Impact Wrestling
Madison Rayne vs. Mercedes Martinez
Forgettable. Mercedes Martinez is as bad in the Knockout's division as she was in NXT.
Winner: Mercedes Martinez
Rating: 2/5
WWE NXT UK
Dani Luna vs Stevie Turner
This was a decent match, all things considered. Whilst nowhere near the standard of Meiko Satomura vs Jinny, both women worked well to put on a decent match.
Winner: Dani Luna
Rating: 2.5/5
WWE Friday Night SmackDown
Sasha Banks, Aliyah, & Naomi vs Natalya, Shotzi, & Shayna Baszler
Aliyah winning the match, only to be removed from Team SmackDown was the major stoyline here. The match action was fine, but not ground breaking.
Winner: Sasha Banks, Aliyah, & Naomi
Rating: 2.5/5
AEW Rampage
Jade Cargill vs Santana Garrett
Squash City!
Winner: Jade Cargill
Rating: 2/5
AEW Full Gear 2021
Britt Baker vs Tay Conti
Tay Conti worked hard to create a viable enough threat to Britt Baker. The issue is, however, for as talented as she is, Conti never once looked like she would be beating Baker, which severely hurt the drama of the match overall. Both women had their working boots on, but the contest was missing the drama it so sorely needed.
Winner: Britt Baker
Rating: 3/5
MATCH OF THE WEEK:
Britt Baker vs Tay Conti
Easily the best match of the week, even with a clear lack of drama.
WOMAN OF THE WEEK:
Tay Conti
Tay Conti underlined that she does belong in the conversation for the AEW Women's World Championship.
