Women's Wrestling Weekly Recap & Review #356

Posted by Dallas Allsopp Monday, November 8, 2021

Welcome to another edition of WOMEN'S WRESTLING WEEKLY—a rundown of the events which have transpired in the world of women's professional wrestling over the past several days not just with the Superstars on WWE programming, but with Impact Wrestling's Knockouts, ROH's Women of Honor, and even a glimpse at the women on the independent circuit.

WWE Monday Night Raw

Becky Lynch vs Bianca Belair

Opening this week's episode of Raw, these two women worked well against each other, which is no real surprise. Bianca Belair came close to winning, but Becky Lynch tapped into her heelish ways to steal the victory. Whilst not their best encounter, it was most certainly a strong one.

Winner: Becky Lynch

Rating: 3.5/5

Rhea Ripley & Nikki A.S.H. vs Carmella & Queen Zelina

This match was so disjointed and clumsy. Queen Zelina winning was the only positive, although it may be setting up a potential WWE Women's Tag Team Championship change soon.

Winner: Carmella & Zelina Vega

Rating: 1.5/5

AEW Dark: Elevation

Nyla Rose & Emi Sakura vs Ryo Mizunami & Kris Statlander

Kris Statlander's continued fall from the top was compounded with another loss this week, and although the match was more than serviceable, it wasn't as exciting as it perhaps should have been.

Winner: Nyla Rose & Emi Sakura

Rating: 2.5/5

Riho vs Kayla Sparks

Squash City!

Winner: Riho

Rating: 2/5

LMK vs Tay Conti

Squash City!

Winner: Tay Conti

Rating: 2/5

WWE NXT 2.0

Dakota Kai vs Cora Jade

Squash City!

Winner: Dakota Kai

Rating: 2/5

AEW Dark

Nyla Rose vs Viva Van

Squash City!

Winner: Nyla Rose

Rating: 2/5

Santana Garrett vs The Bunny

Squash City!

Winner: The Bunny

Rating: 2/5

Red Velvet vs Shalonce Royal

Squash City!

Winner: Red Velvet

Rating: 2/5

AEW Wednesday Night Dynamite

Jamie Hayter vs Anna Jay

Slow. Bumbling. Insipid. Words that can accurately describe Jamie Hayter, who laboured to victory this week over a much more charismatic Anna Jay.

Winner: Jamie Hayter

Rating: 1.5/5

Impact Wrestling

Mickie James vs Madison Rayne

Mickie James successfully defended her Knockout's Championship against Madison Rayne in a woeful match. But that is not a slight on her, rather the poor performing Rayne. Whilst not outright bad, it did highlight the need to provide James with quality challengers.

Winner: Mickie James

Rating: 2/5

WWE NXT UK

Meiko Satomura vs Jinny

I expected a strong match here, and thankfully, I was not disappointed. Meiko Satomura once again underlined her talent, whilst Jinny came so close to pulling off an upset. In all honesty, Jinny's stock was raised by such a strong performance.

Winner: Meiko Satomura

Rating: 3.5/5

Angel Hayze vs Isla Dawn

God damn awful!

Winner: Angel Hayze

Rating: 1.5/5

WWE Main Event

Liv Morgan vs Tamina

Nothing more than standard Main Event filler. But at least Liv Morgan looked strong in victory.

Winner: Liv Morgan

Rating: 2.5/5

WWE Friday Night SmackDown

Naomi vs Shayna Baszler

Too brief to be a great match, especially when you consider how Sonya Deville declared the finish null and void.

Winner: Naomi

Rating: 2/5

Naomi vs Shayna Baszler

Complete and utter bullshit!

Winner: Shayna Baszler

Rating: 1/5

AEW Rampage

Red Velvet vs The Bunny

This was a disappointing contest, with neither woman starring. Red Velvet was too ineffective as a star to generate a groundswell of support, whilst The Bunny didn't have sufficient time to impress.

Winner: Red Velvet

Rating: 2/5

MATCH OF THE WEEK:

Meiko Satomura vs Jinny

A simply fabulous addition to the history of the NXT UK Women's Championship.

WOMAN OF THE WEEK:

Mickie James

Mickie James underlined she still has the talent to succeed.

DISAPPOINTMENT OF THE WEEK:

Naomi

Saddled with such a piss poor storyline, her stock has reached rock bottom.
