Welcome to another edition of WOMEN'S WRESTLING WEEKLY—a rundown of the events which have transpired in the world of women's professional wrestling over the past several days not just with the Superstars on WWE programming, but with Impact Wrestling's Knockouts, ROH's Women of Honor, and even a glimpse at the women on the independent circuit.
WWE Monday Night Raw
Shayna Baszler vs Doudrop
The majority of this match consisisted of Shayna Baszler locking in the Kirifuda Clutch, whilst Doudrop stole the pinfall victory. The longest Queen's Crown match so far, which is a sad indictment on the tournament as a whole.
Winner: Doudrop
Rating: 2/5
Charlotte Flair vs Bianca Belair
Featuring some solid wrestling, this was a worthy main event for Raw. Bianca Belair was presented as a genuine threat to Charlotte Flair, hence her desperate DQ. Overall, this was a solid and entertaining contest.
Winner: Bianca Belair (via DQ)
Rating: 3.5/5
AEW Dark: Elevation
Red Velvet, Ryo Mizunami, & Kilynn King vs Emi Sakura, Diamante, & Nyla Rose
A fun multi-woman match, this was a welcome change to the usual barrage of squash women's matches on Elevation.
Winner: Emi Sakura, Diamante, & Nyla Rose
Rating: 3/5
WWE NXT
Cora Jade vs Elektra Lopez
Squash City!
Winner: Cora Jade
Rating: 2/5
Io Shirai vs Persia Pirotta vs Jacy Jayne
A scary bump for Jacy Jayne aside, this was a decent enough contest. The wind was taken out of the match as a result of the bump, but Io Shirai and Persia Pirotta were more than able to put on a fun sequence.
Winner: Io Shirai
Rating: 2/5
AEW Dark
Jamie Hayter vs Tiffany Nieves
Squash City!
Winner: Jamie Hayter
Rating: 2/5
Thunder Rosa, Kris Statlander, & Red Velvet vs Nyla Rose, Emi Sakura, & Diamanté
Again, this was a pleasant match that stood out well due to being more than just a squash match.
Winner: Thunder Rosa, Kris Statlander, & Red Velvet
Rating: 3/5
Impact Wrestling
Mickie James vs Savannah Evans
Mickie James made Savannah Evans look like a star here, which evidences just how talented a veteran she is. This set James up well for her upcoming match with Deonna Purrazzo, whilst also preserving the integrity of the Knockout's division.
Winner: Mickie James
Rating: 3/5
WWE NXT UK
Aleah James vs Xia Brookside
Xia Brookside deserves so much better than being placed in mediocre contests. This was not fun at all.
Winner: Aleah James
Rating: 1.5/5
WWE Crown Jewel 2021
Doudrop vs Zelina Vega
A complete mismatch in the ring. This was not a good match, but I can see Zelina Vega running with The Queen gimmick and making it her own.
Winner: Zelina Vega
Rating: 2/5
Becky Lynch vs Bianca Belair vs Sasha Banks
Triple Threat matches are often hard to book, but these three women worked hard to put on a strong match. Sasha Banks and Bianca Belair both seemed deserving of capturing the SmackDown Women's Championship, but the wily Becky Lynch once again stole the victory. It finally feels like she is coming into her own as a heel.
Winner: Becky Lynch
Rating: 3/5
WWE Friday Night SmackDown
There were no women's matches this week. Instead, here is a really insipid Charlotte Flair segment.
AEW Rampage
Britt Baker vs Anna Jay
As an AEW Women's World Championship match, it lacked the usual drama you would associate with it. Anna Jay was never going to win, but she at least looked good as she had her ass handed to her by Britt Baker. Most notably, it was Tay Conti who looked amazing as she held aloft the title, signalling her intent to defeat The Doctor at Full Gear.
Winner: Britt Baker
Rating: 3/5
AEW Saturday Night Dynamite
Ruby Soho vs Penelope Ford
A quite frankly mediocre match with very little sizzle. Not a great way to start the TBS Championship tournament.
Winner: Ruby Soho
Rating: 2/5
MATCH OF THE WEEK:
Charlotte Flair vs Bianca Belair
Charlotte Flair vs Bianca Belair is a match I can get behind, especially when both women work as hard as they do.
WOMAN OF THE WEEK:
Zelina Vega
She may not be amazing in the ring, but Zelina Vega can truly run with The Queen gimmick.
