A quick bout won by pinfall with a tandem neckbreaker/powerbomb combination.
Anna Jay defeated Ashley D'Amboise
Anna Jay looked to be in incredible shape after a lengthy recovery from shoulder surgery. Jay earned a submission victory with her Queenslayer rear choke. The Bunny came out to attack Anna from behind. Tay Conti made the save and drove The Bunny to the back.
2point0 (Matt Lee & Jeff Parker) w/ Daniel Garcia defeated Erik & Andrew Lockhart
Lee and Parker put on another clinic of tag team excellence and hit their "2 For The Show" for a pinfall victory. Daniel Garcia rolled in to continue to punish the Lockhart Brothers after the bell.
Jade Cargill w/ Smart Mark Sterling defeated Angelica Risk
Cargill put her opponent away for a three count with her Jaded finisher. Mark Sterling came into the ring after the match to talk up Cargill ahead of her clash with "Legit" Leyla Hirsch this Wednesday on Dynamite.
A video package spelled out the conflict between Diamante and Big Swole making it clear that their feud is not over after their Three Strikes match last week on Dark.
Fuego Del Sol defeated Mysterious Movado
Movado dominated for much of the early going. Sol fed off of the energy of the crowd to rally and earn a pinfall win via his Tornado DDT.
Shawn Spears defeated Khash
Spears came out to the ring with a chair labelled,"Darby". Spears spoke directly into the camera to send a message to Darby Allin before laying out his opponent with a Death Valley Driver for a pinfall victory. Shawn Spears will compete with Darby this week on Dynamite.
A video package spoke of the animosity between Sonny Kiss and Joey Janela after The Bad Boy turned on his former tag team partner a number of weeks ago.
Best Friends (Orange Cassidy, Chuck Taylor & Wheeler Yuta) w/ Kris Statlander defeated HFO (Angelico, Jack Evans & Jora Johl)
HFO put up a great fight but continue to come up short against The Best Friends. OC picked up the pinfall win for his team after laying out Johl with an Orange Punch.
"Legit" Leyla Hirsch defeated KiLynn King
King was looking to make a name for herself by snatching a win from Hirsch ahead of her match with Jade Cargill on Wednesday. "Legit" Leyla Hirsch ultimately put away King with a running knee strike for a victory via pinfall. After the match, Jade Cargill emerged to try to intimidate Leyla. However, Hirsch stood her ground and took down Cargill before they were separated by referees. The two stared one another down to close out the show.
It remains to be seen whether AEW Dark will permanently tape at Universal Studios, but the intimate feel has the potential to be a lot of fun for Dark tapings. The small venue and crowd size allowed for some fun interactions. At one point, Shawn Spears shut down a heckler who was taunting him with his "Perfect Ten" moniker from his stint in WWE. The microphones were also able to pick up plenty of shouting audience members, calls from the refs inside the ring and loads of trash talk from the wrestlers toward one another. Jack Evans referring to himself as "Apple Jack" when striking Orange Cassidy was a particular highlight! What did you think of Dark's first taping at Universal Studios? Post a comment below!
