Welcome to another edition of Cheap Pop and Cheap Heat from Smark Out Moment! Each week, we break down the world of professional wrestling and examine two of the polar opposite ends of the spectrum: one thing that was by far the worst thing (Cheap Heat) and the best thing (Cheap Pop) to happen over the past 7 days in sports entertainment. So, what went down this week that we loved and hated about the business?
CHEAP POP OF THE WEEK:
RK-BRO REUNITE (SORT OF)
It was great to see a bigger focus on the tag team division this week on Raw, with the story of the RK-BRO reunion featuring throughout the night. Admitelly, the focus was likely largely down to said division including AJ Styles and Randy Orton, but I am happy to take it for whatever reason it comes.
Riddle was consistently funny throughout the night, and, despite no-selling Riddle's advancements of friendship, Orton is clearly enjoying himself too. Orton is well-known for being at his best when he actually cares about the story, and at his worst when he does not give a damn. This is obviously one of the former.
What is also great is how nobody is seriously thinking that RK-BRO is actually over. Yes, he did RKO Riddle right at the end of Raw, but that was probably just a sign of affection or him doing it just because he's Randy Orton. That is what he does!
If it had been anyone else? I'd be writing about how they split them up too soon.
CHEAP HEAT OF THE WEEK:
THE WINK THAT WASN'T SEEN AROUND THE WORLD
We are heading towards a Doudrop and Eva Marie vs. Alexa Bliss and Lilly tag match, aren't we? I have no idea how on earth it would work, and, most likely, neither does WWE, but I am rather convinced that is the end game. Al Snow and Head teamed up and fought on occasion, so do not say that they will not go that far!
Why else are we witnessing sentient behaviour, such as it winking on Raw? Sadly, it seemed to escape WWE's mind that the match made no sense to the live crowd, who would have only seen Doudrop suddenly getting scared for no reason.
I guess it would be something different for the SummerSlam card, but that might end up being the only positive thing we can say about it.
So there you have it, my two choices for the week. What do YOU think are the Cheap Pop and Cheap Heat this week in professional wrestling? Let us know your thoughts in the comments below!
