Welcome to another edition of Cheap Pop and Cheap Heat from Smark Out Moment! Each week, we break down the world of professional wrestling and examine two of the polar opposite ends of the spectrum: one thing that was by far the worst thing (Cheap Heat) and the best thing (Cheap Pop) to happen over the past 7 days in sports entertainment. So, what went down this week that we loved and hated about the business?
CHEAP POP OF THE WEEK:
FRESH BLOOD
Both main roster Women's divisions, particularly where tag-teams are concerned, have been thin on the ground for some time, making fresh match-up combinations harder and harder to come by. Thankfully, SmackDown saw fit to remedy it this week by not only calling up Shotzi and Nox, but also announcing the impending arrival of Toni Storm too.
While the loss of the tag team's respective surname and first name has disappointed some, it does bode well that they scored such a quick victory over the champions. Plus, at least they were allowed to bring the tank along too!
NXT talent doing well on the main roster is, historically, very hit or miss, with only a few having their full potential recognized and correctly used.
However, the latest crop? Well, I feel oddly optimistic.
CHEAP HEAT OF THE WEEK:
US-OH-NO
Understandably, WWE are very upset with Jimmy Uso following his third alcohol-related arrest since 2019, especially given how he is a massive part of their biggest story. Thankfully, they are sticking by him and keeping him as part of the show, but there are questions that do need to be asked.
As is well documented by now, Jimmy got pulled over after doing 50 MPH in a 35 MPH zone, and was taking into custody after being found to have blood alcohol levels well above the state limit.
Mercifully, nobody was hurt, but you would think that his earlier arrests would have left him more aware about doing such a thing. If he needs help, which many are starting to suspect he might, let us hope that this one acts as the catalyst for him to get it.
So there you have it, my two choices for the week. What do YOU think are the Cheap Pop and Cheap Heat this week in professional wrestling? Let us know your thoughts in the comments below!
