Call the Spot on the Card #24: WWE Money in the Bank 2021 Competitors

Posted by Anthony Mango Friday, July 16, 2021

Welcome to another edition of CALL THE SPOT ON THE CARD, where we present a list of wrestlers and you must choose what place on the WWE Roster Hierarchy they should be put in: 1) Main Event, 2) Upper Midcard, 3) Midcard, 4) Jobber, or 5) Released (or any alternative extra categories that may be added for bigger lists).

The rules are that each spot must be filled and only one person can be in each spot, so no ties can happen, nor can anyone opt out. No matter how difficult it might be, you have to pick.

Call the Spot MITB wrestlers ranked

This edition will focus on the men and women competing in the 2021 Money in the Bank ladder matches.

Since there are eight people in each match, we're using the eight-point ranking structure by adding the Hall of Fame option above Main Event as the top tier goal as well as Lower Midcard and Erased from History to round things out.

2021 WOMEN'S MONEY IN THE BANK LADDER MATCH PARTICIPANTS

Alexa Bliss vs. Asuka vs. Liv Morgan vs. Naomi vs. Natalya vs. Nikki A.S.H. vs. Tamina vs. Zelina Vega

8) ERASED FROM HISTORY = Tamina

I think everyone would make this call. She's accomplished the least and it would make less ripples in the timeline.

7) RELEASED = Zelina Vega

Send her to AEW where they could not only better utilize someone of her talents, but she'd be more appreciated and able to do her Twitch streaming. She's too good to be just wasting away.

6) JOBBER = Nikki ASH

This sucks for Nikki, but someone has to go in this spot. That's the nature of the game.

5) LOWER MIDCARD = Liv Morgan

Despite how I'm a fan of Morgan's passion, she hasn't improved enough for me to want to bump her higher on the list compared to the other, bigger names. I'd like to see her reach that spot (as well as for everyone here on this list to succeed), but if I have to put one of these remaining five into this Lower Midcard spot, it's Morgan over the others.

4) MIDCARD = Naomi

At the end of the day, I think the other three fit in the higher positions more than Naomi would. With that being said, #NaomiDeservesBetter. I want her to win the Money in the Bank briefcase and turn heel, cash in on Bianca Belair and have a title reign from around September until December, maybe.

3) UPPER MIDCARD = Alexa Bliss

Gotta love Bliss. I've been a fan of her from the start in NXT. She's great, and even though I don't dig this idea of her being the new Bray Wyatt and just playing around with that gimmick "idea" without any actual game plan, the potential for something great is there. Let's tap into it, instead of wasting it.

2) MAIN EVENT = Asuka

The Empress of Tomorrow never should have lost her undefeated streak the way she did. Even after that, WWE should have always made it a priority where she doesn't look bad. I want to reestablish her as a legit "can always win the title at any time" type of star and not some backup plan they don't focus on even when she has the belt like what happened in 2020.

1) HALL OF FAME = Natalya

There always comes an implication of retirement with the Hall of Fame spot. Obviously, the top 4 women here are all worthy and should be inducted. It would be a travesty if they weren't. But if I had to have one of them hang up their boots and say they're done, I think it would be Nattie who is best for that role at this particular moment.

2021 MEN'S MONEY IN THE BANK LADDER MATCH PARTICIPANTS

Big E vs. Drew McIntyre vs. John Morrison vs. Kevin Owens vs. Ricochet vs. Riddle vs. Seth Rollins vs. Shinsuke Nakamura

8) ERASED FROM HISTORY = Shinsuke Nakamura

Ouch. This is a tough, tough list, as I don't want any of these guys below Upper Midcard. But if I'm going to take one out of WWE's history books, Nakamura's Royal Rumble victory led nowhere and was just a disappointing trajectory overall. His NXT run had some moments, but I don't think it's as standout as some others. There's an argument to be made that he'd be better off as Released, even, but I think that better suits another guy. Still, as always, I wouldn't want this to happen to Nakamura as I like the guy and have wanted better for him, so I'm glad to see he's at least pulling off this King Nakamura gimmick now.

7) RELEASED = Ricochet

WWE doesn't seem to want to actually push him. Let him go to AEW and be heralded as a god there.

Of course, I'd rather him just succeed in WWE, but that's not the name of this game.

6) JOBBER = John Morrison

Again, keep in mind that I want everyone on Upper Midcard or higher. But if someone has to be the jobber, JoMo is too funny not to get that role. We know he'd be able to pull it off.

5) LOWER MIDCARD = Big E

UGH. I hate this. I hate this so much. I just hate this. I actually want Big E to win the Money in the Bank ladder match and I'm rooting for him to become world champion, even. But in comparison to the other guys, I'd just imagine WWE probably wouldn't push him as sustainably long, and he's proven that he's a valuable asset in the tag team division, so if he were to be demoted like this, he could still serve a major purpose.

Absolutely gutted to put him in this kind of spot, though. Why did I make this game up?!

4) MIDCARD = Riddle

He has the potential to win a world title, too. I think he might get there in a year or two. I'm loving his current character work and it sucks to have to put him in the midcard, but the three other guys are just bigger fish right now.

3) UPPER MIDCARD = Kevin Owens

Normally, he goes into my Main Event spot. The only reason he isn't here is because there's one guy who is a hotter act right now and more fitting with what WWE seems willing to go with.

With that being said, Owens deserves at least one, if not two or more world title reigns. Give him the belt. He's one of my absolute favorites on the roster and has consistently been in my top 10 since his literal debut in NXT.

2) MAIN EVENT = Drew McIntyre

The Hall of Fame spot is reserved (in my mind) for someone who could retire today and it would feel like they at least accomplished it all. While that is somewhat true for Drew McIntyre, I think he's only just getting started as a main event talent and it would be a shame to cut that short. Also, he just hasn't accomplished as much as the next guy.

1) HALL OF FAME = Seth Rollins

If this were a ranking of how I like their characters right now, Rollins would be in the jobber spot to bump everyone else up the list. I'm not digging the semi-messiah stuff much at all. He's done so much better.

But in the grand scheme of everyone's careers, he's easily the most accomplished of this bunch. If only one were to be in the Hall of Fame, he'd be that guy.

WHO WOULD YOU PUT IN WHICH SPOTS?
