- A vignette airs for Roman Reigns vs Rey Mysterio. Mysterio comes out as the Cell is lowered, noting how pained and hurt he is for Dominik Mysterio. He will never forget the helpless look in his eyes as he suffered in pain, which is why the Lucha Legend wants his revenge tonight inside Hell in a Cell. The Cell lowers all the way to the floor, prompting Reigns to come out to the ring with Paul Heyman. He says he tried to be diplomatic, but now he will have to do things his way.
- Kevin Owens and Big E share they are not worried about Commander Azeez, but there is clear tension in the air. Sami Zayn comes out ringside to watch the match.
- Commander Azeez and Apollo Crews defeated Big E and Kevin Owens by pinfall.
- Commander Azeez hits a post match Nigerian Nail on Kevin Owens. Sami Zayn gloats about this backstage. Backstage, Owens demands a match against Zayn be made official for Hell in a Cell, which is granted.
- Shinsuke Nakamura defeated King Corbin by pinfall.
- Shinsuke Nakamura wins possession of King Corbin's Crown. Rik Boogs crowns him.
- Bianca Belair comes out to the ring. She calls Bayley a bully, and notes that she wants Bayley inside Hell in a Cell for their SmackDown Women's Championship match. Bayley and Belair fight, with the former champion coming out on top.
- Jimmy Uso approaches Roman Reigns backstage to say he agrees with The Tribal Chief about them being blood.
- Otis vs Angelo Dawkins never started as Chad Gable and Otis attacked him prior to the match starting, decimating him in the process.
- Cesaro shares with Kayla Braxton that Seth Rollins didn't go far enough. Seth Rollins arrives and says Cesaro disgusts him, and he will show everyone at Hell in a Cell what Cesaro deserves. Cesaro pushes Rollins off his chair as he leaves.
- Hell in a Cell Match: Roman Reigns defeated Rey Mysterio by submission to retain the WWE Universal Championship.
- Jimmy Uso celebrates with Roman Reigns. Reigns locks in the Guillotine on Rey Mysterio.
