Welcome to another edition of WOMEN'S WRESTLING WEEKLY—a rundown of the events which have transpired in the world of women's professional wrestling over the past several days not just with the Superstars on WWE programming, but with Impact Wrestling's Knockouts, ROH's Women of Honor, and even a glimpse at the women on the independent circuit.
WWE Monday Night Raw
Nikki Cross vs Charlotte Flair
Countout. The most beloved of match finishes. This was just all kinds of idiotic, stupid, and pointless drivel.
Winner: Nikki Cross
Rating: 1.5/5
Piper Niven vs Naomi
Piper Niven smash! This was a delicious squash to introduce Niven to the WWE universe. It's just a shame she has the association with Eva Marie and no discernable character.
Winner: Piper Niven
Rating: 2.5/5
Asuka vs Rhea Ripley
A standard match to drive home how talented both women are, except there wasn't much fire to this.
Winner: Rhea Ripley
Rating: 2.5/5
Alexa Bliss vs Nia Jax
Bullshit! Complete and utter bullshit!
Winner: Alexa Bliss (via DQ)
Rating: 1/5
AEW Dark: Elevation
Nyla Rose vs Megan Bayne
Squash City!
Winner: Nyla Rose
Rating: 2/5
Julia Hart vs Dani Jordyn
I cannot get over just how green Julie Hart looked in this match. Not just green, but potentially dangerous.
Winner: Julia Hart
Rating: 1/5
WWE NXT
Dakota Kai & Raquel Gonzalez vs Kacy Catanzaro & Kayden Carter
This was a standard contest designed to make Dakota Kai and Raquel Gonzalez look good, which is something I can certainly get on board with. Kacy Catanzaro and Kayden Carter worked hard, but they were no match for perhaps the most dangerous team in NXT.
Winner: Dakota Kai & Raquel Gonzalez
Rating: 2.5/5
AEW Dark
Nyla Rose vs. Charlotte Renegade
Squash City!
Winner: Nyla Rose
Rating: 2/5
Valentina Rossi vs Kilynn King
Whilst not a complete squash, Kilynn King was in no mood to lose, hitting a Kingdom Falls for the pinfall victory.
Winner: Kilynn King
Rating: 2/5
Willow Nightingale vs Tay Conti
Squash City!
Winner: Tay Conti
Rating: 2.5/5
AEW Friday Night Dynamite
Penelope Ford vs Julia Hart
Awful. Just awful. This should have taken place on Elevation, not Dynamite!
Winner: Penelope Ford
Rating: 1/5
Impact Wrestling
Tenille Dashwood vs Rachael Ellering
Although Tenille Dashwood won via a rollup, this was exactly the victory she needed. By winning in such an industrious manner, she can be reasonably confident about working her way towards the Knockout's Championship.
Winner: Tenille Dashwood
Rating: 2.5/5
WWE NXT UK
There were no women's matches this week.
WWE Friday Night SmackDown
There were no women's matches this week.
WWE Hell in a Cell 2021
Mandy Rose vs Natalya
The very definition of kick off show mediocre. Not only that, what does Mandy Rose do now she has been defeated by the apparent bad guy of the storyline?
Winner: Natalya
Rating: 2/5
Bianca Belair vs Bayley
I had very low expectations for this match, but I was pleasantly surprised to see both women put on a strong match. Whilst the Hell in a Cell stipulation never came into play effectively, there was a brutal element to their match, with Bianca Belair hitting a stunning KOD onto a ladder for the victory. Overall, this was good viewing.
Winner: Bianca Belair
Rating: 3.5/5
Rhea Ripley vs Charlotte Flair
This match never really got going, which is probably due to the fact that the storyline just does not make any sense. Rhea Ripley and Charlotte Flair both straddle the line between heel and face, but don't really make either their own. A shitty disqualification gave Flair the victory, which means we will have this feud continue. Great!
Winner: Charlotte Flair (via DQ)
Rating: 2/5
Alexa Bliss vs Shayna Baszler
This feud, if you can even call it that, continues to plumb new depths. Nothing about this was strong, with Reginald once again featuring in Grade A Wrestle Crap.
Winner: Alexa Bliss
Rating: 1/5
MATCH OF THE WEEK:
Bianca Belair vs Bayley
This may not have been up there with the elite Hell in a Cell matches, but it was still a fun and entertaining contest.
WOMAN OF THE WEEK:
Bianca Belair
Successfully retaining the SmackDown Women's Championship inside Hell in a Cell is a momentous achievement to be proud of.
