Women's Wrestling Weekly Recap & Review #334

Posted by Dallas Allsopp Monday, June 7, 2021

Welcome to another edition of WOMEN'S WRESTLING WEEKLY—a rundown of the events which have transpired in the world of women's professional wrestling over the past several days not just with the Superstars on WWE programming, but with Impact Wrestling's Knockouts, ROH's Women of Honor, and even a glimpse at the women on the independent circuit.

WWE Monday Night Raw

Nikki Cross vs Charlotte Flair

This was yet another inoffensive match to use Nikki Cross on television, whilst also progressing Rhea Ripley vs Charlotte Flair in a meaningful manner.

Winner: Nikki Cross

Rating: 2/5

Naomi & Lana vs Dana Brooke & Mandy Rose

A terrible match, and honestly, Lana deserved a better departure from WWE than this shitshow.

Winner: Dana Brooke & Mandy Rose

Rating: 1.5/5

AEW Dark: Elevation

Leyla Hirsch vs Robyn Renegade

Squash City.

Winner: Leyla Hirsch

Rating: 2/5

Thunder Rosa vs Reka Tehaka

Squash City.

Winner: Thunder Rosa

Rating: 2/5

Big Swole & Red Velvet vs Nyla Rose & The Bunny

This wasn’t a bad match, with Big Swole and Red Velvet once again teaming up well. The issue for me is the lack of fire during the finishing sequence, but other than that, Nyla Rose and The Bunny were worthy winners.

Winner: Nyla Rose & The Bunny

Rating: 2.5/5

Tay Conti vs Ashley D’Amboise

Squash City.

Winner: Tay Conti

Rating: 2/5

WWE NXT

Zoey Stark & Zayda Remier vs The Way

All four women stood out well in this match, however, the focus was on The Way, with Candice LeRae the standout performer. This was an inoffensive contest with the right team coming out on top.

Winner: The Way

Rating: 2/5

AEW Dark

Kris Statlander vs Robin Renegade

Happily, it seems that Kris Statlander hasn’t lost a step in the ring since her return from an ACL tear. Although this match wasn’t groundbreaking, it at least allowed Statlander to reinforce her talents.

Winner: Kris Statlander

Rating: 2.5/5

Diamante vs Red Velvet

This match dragged on a bit too long for my liking, but it was clear that both women tried hard to put on a strong match. Red Velvet was able to hit a strong Kick to the Face for the pinfall victory, continuing her recent wave of momentum.

Winner: Red Velvet

Rating: 2.5/5

AEW Friday Night Dynamite

The Bunny vs Red Velvet

Standard Dark style match, but with no heat to it whatsoever. Simply disappointing.

Winner: Red Velvet

Rating: 2/5

Impact Wrestling

Fire 'N' Flava vs Jordynne Grace & Rachel Ellering

In defending the Knockout’s Tag Team Championship, Fire ‘N’ Flava continued their recent run of solid matches. Jordynne Grace and Rachael Ellering worked well to almost wrest the titles away from Fire ‘N’ Flava, but they were undone by some quality heel work. Overall, this was a fine match.

Winner: Fire 'N' Flava

Rating: 3/5

WWE NXT UK

There were no women's matches this week.

WWE Friday Night SmackDown

Carmella vs Liv Morgan

Carmella reignited her current run on SmackDown by declaring she is the most beautiful woman in WWE. Liv Morgan disagreed, but she fell to a Code of Silence to underline the threat she poses to SmackDown’s Women’s Championship.

Winner: Carmella

Rating: 3/5

MATCH OF THE WEEK:

Carmella vs Liv Morgan

Despite this week not producing many strong matches, this was a fun little contest which allowed both women to look strong.

WOMAN OF THE WEEK:

Carmella

Carmella used one strong promo and one solid match to regain her recently lost momentum.

So there you have it, the breakdown for the week in women's wrestling. What were some of your favorite and least favorite moments from these women? Let us know your thoughts in the comments below!
