Welcome to another edition of Cheap Pop and Cheap Heat from Smark Out Moment! Each week, we break down the world of professional wrestling and examine two of the polar opposite ends of the spectrum: one thing that was by far the worst thing (Cheap Heat) and the best thing (Cheap Pop) to happen over the past 7 days in sports entertainment. So, what went down this week that we loved and hated about the business?
CHEAP POP OF THE WEEK:
RIDDLE ME THIS
Is the happy-go-lucky Riddle about to turn heel?
That is a question that is on many lips following him losing his cool with Kofi Kingston on Raw. This would have felt unthinkable not so long ago, but that was, all before he began teaming with Randy Orton.
Could it be possible that the Viper is emitting a coroding influence? Will Riddle transition before our eyes to someone as despicable and cold blooded as his new friend? While it is possible, I would wager that him remaining face would work wonders for any potential RK-BRO merchandise, and that is a factor that WWE may find too hard to ignore. That being said, what I think this might lead to is a more corrobative view point, with Riddle starting to see things from Randy’s perspective, and becoming a little less trusting in the process. These two teaming was interesting enough as it was, but this development adds an extra layer of intrigue.
CHEAP HEAT OF THE WEEK:
MIZING IN ACTION
When your occupation involves being slammed to a canvas on a regular basis, it is fair to say that injuries are expected. However, up until last week, The Miz was a rare exception to this rule. His safe working style was a great pride of his, and even came up as part of his feud with Daniel Bryan. In fact, his dependability has often been cited as one of the reasons why WWE granted him so many opportunities both in and out of the ring.
However, to return to my original point, there are only so many slams on your bump card before something has to give. Reportedly suffering a torn ACL after the his match at WrestleMania Backlash, The Miz is now looking at a possible 7-9 months off to recuperate. The Miz is one of my absolute favourites, and I really hope that this estimate is the worst case scenario.
I shall Miz him greatly.
So there you have it, my two choices for the week. What do YOU think are the Cheap Pop and Cheap Heat this week in professional wrestling? Let us know your thoughts in the comments below!
