The WWE Raw Women's Championship has changed hands as Rhea Ripley defeated Asuka to win the title at WrestleMania 37 on April 11, 2021.
My immediate reaction: It should have been Charlotte Flair dropping the title to Ripley, not Asuka. The Empress of Tomorrow had such a terrible time as champion where it was clear WWE didn't care. Ripley spent the last year failing to regain her momentum after the poor decision to have her lose to Flair. This is good in the sense that Ripley is champion, which helps boost her credibility back up some more, but it shouldn't have gone down this way and with such a terrible complete lack of a build and story to it. And no, I don't think people should just take the win and ignore the negatives, as you have to acknowledge those missteps so that you don't do the same thing again and again. Ripley holding the belt is great, but it's surrounded by bad stuff, too. Here's hoping the cons don't continue and it's just pros going forward.
Since this happened, be sure to check out the updated full list of title changes for this year and the list of current champions and my predictions for who will take the belts away from them.
