The WWE NXT Women's Championship has changed hands as Raquel Gonzalez defeated Io Shirai to win the title at TakeOver: Stand & Deliver on April 7, 2021.
My immediate reaction: While I had originally thought Toni Storm would be the one to dethrone Io Shirai, once that passed and they went back to Raquel Gonzalez, this felt like a guarantee. I think it's great Gonzalez has improved as much as she has. Back when she was in the Mae Young Classic tournaments, she had a lot to learn, but she's proven that since then, she's progressed considerably. Now, I'm totally down for her to be champion. Thumbs up on the title change and thumbs up on Io Shirai's reign.
Since this happened, be sure to check out the updated full list of title changes for this year and the list of current champions and my predictions for who will take the belts away from them.
