Welcome to another edition of Cheap Pop and Cheap Heat from Smark Out Moment! Each week, we break down the world of professional wrestling and examine two of the polar opposite ends of the spectrum: one thing that was by far the worst thing (Cheap Heat) and the best thing (Cheap Pop) to happen over the past 7 days in sports entertainment. So, what went down this week that we loved and hated about the business?
CHEAP POP OF THE WEEK:
THE TOOTH OF THE MATTER
I thoroughly enjoy goofy dancing Asuka, and, as I so often say, she is one of the MVP's of the empty arena era. However, between being so fun-loving, and often not being featured, that killer instinct she was so renowned for had become slightly forgotten.
Well, until this past week on Raw, that is.
Playing off the real life incident of having a tooth knocked out, Asuka went ballistic on Shayna Bazler, removing her famed mouth guards, and seemingly hell bent on extracting not only her revenge, but Shayna's teeth too!
The wannabe Mrs. Yankem was, thankfully, not successful in doing so, but that was the not the important part. A very scary thing has awoken in Asuka, and I am very intrigued to see her where it takes her.
Though, probably just towards a tooth for a tooth match, knowing WWE....
Bonus Pop: SmackDown's Tag Scene - There were some fantastic tag matches on SmackDown this past week, and the overall presentation of the male tag division just feels like more a priority than it does on Raw. Fresher, fiercer, more time allocated, and just some outstanding performances. I would love to see a multi-man match for the titles come WrestleMania, as they all deserve the spot.
CHEAP HEAT OF THE WEEK:
HURTING THE BUSINESS
Did The Hurt Business have to lose the tag titles so soon after Bobby Lashley won the WWE Championship?
Do not get me wrong, I do like The New Day, and the idea of Amos and AJ Styles facing them at WrestleMania sounds a lot of fun, but could Shelton Benjamin and Cedric Alexander not have held onto them for a little longer?
I understand that WWE would not want a heel team facing a heel team for WrestleMania, and so the title switch had to take place somewhere, but it happened six days away from Fastlane!
Could the loss not have at least occurred there?
Just as it looked like things were going the Hurt Business's way...
So there you have it, my two choices for the week. What do YOU think are the Cheap Pop and Cheap Heat this week in professional wrestling? Let us know your thoughts in the comments below!
