Welcome to another edition of Cheap Pop and Cheap Heat from Smark Out Moment! Each week, we break down the world of professional wrestling and examine two of the polar opposite ends of the spectrum: one thing that was by far the worst thing (Cheap Heat) and the best thing (Cheap Pop) to happen over the past 7 days in sports entertainment. So, what went down this week that we loved and hated about the business?
CHEAP POP OF THE WEEK:
ONE MORE TAG MATCH
My main wrestling excitement comes courtesy of an interview Edge did with UK newspaper, The Metro. For it was in this publication that he was asked about the possibility of another tag team run with Christian.
Officially, Christian has neither confirmed nor denied that he is back, but given how good he looked, and how well he performed at the Royal Rumble, there must be one more match, minimum, left in him.
I loved Edge and Christian so much in the Attitude Era, and the idea of them chasing the tag titles obviously crossed my mind, but, with Edge winning the Rumble, I assumed that he had bigger fish to fry.
However, Edge replied with a very positive affirmation, and that, once he was done with his WrestleMania story, that this had to happen.
Edge would go on to speak about the exciting match ups that they could have with the likes of The Usos, The Dirty Dawgs, The New Day, and even Seth Rollins & Roman Reigns!
The latter seems like fantasy booking, but, then again, so did these two ever returning at one point.
CHEAP HEAT OF THE WEEK:
NOT MUCH FLAIR
This past week saw the continuation of the Lacy Evans and Charlotte Flair rivalry, and, once again, nothing new happened in it.
Match. Music. Distraction. Lose. Rinse and repeat. Plus, let us not forget that this is not even the first time that Daddy and Daughter Flair have had a feud. The only original aspect to this is Lacy, whom, not long ago, WWE were happily touting as a happily married woman with a daughter who idolized her.
She must be so proud.
Hopefully this will get wrapped up at Fastlane, as Lacy Evans vs. Charlotte Flair surely cannot be Flair's WrestleMania plan, can it?
Not unless she wins a title between now and then...
So there you have it, my two choices for the week. What do YOU think are the Cheap Pop and Cheap Heat this week in professional wrestling? Let us know your thoughts in the comments below!
